Hutson got an assist on the last OT goal by skating off the ice for a line change while Suzuki and Caufield did all the work.

You clearly didn't see the game or having a bias against Hutson. Hutson already played more than a minutes. He used his skates to deflect the pass from the Caps player on a 2 on 1. After seeing Caufield got the puck, he skated to the bench. He did his job wonderfully and earned the +1.

The funny part is that he didn't get a +1. He left the ice and Matheson got the +1. So this guy is complaining about something that didn't happen.

I watched the game. Hutson initiated the play and then go straight to the bench. But when Suzuki scored the goal, the defenseman on the ice was Matheson who replaced Hutson. So I guess Hutson got the assist and Matheson got the +1.

Interesting post considering recent developments, though not involving Hutson. Recently teams have started teeing off on Hughes. I would have anticipated that this is more likely with Hutson since he’s a rookie. If it can happen to Hughes, it can happen to Hutson. It’s probably inevitable. If it happens to Hutson this year, how does he react to it?

His entire game is based around baiting players to commit and then capitalize on the space. He WANTS the other team to play the body. When the Habs played against the Pens, they did a pretty good job containing Hutson by applying less pressure and covering the seams.

Yes, that is how it works. I was calling Matheson a Huston merchant because he was the one that got the free +1 for skating on the ice.

I have even seen goals scored from the bench in minor hockey (dumped down the ice, line change and the goalie missed the puck).
