Lane Hutson Burgeoning Star Watch

It means that he is showing with some visuals how Lane is not getting as tough matchups as Makar and Hughes were getting on their rookie seasons. Basically he is saying that the stats of Lane are not directly comparable to Makar's and Hughes' rookie seasons, as those two faced more of the "best players" than what Lane is facing.

Its in a way a clouding some of the success of Lane with a "ye he is good but it might be just the weakness of his opponents". At the same time the poster is suggesting to rush the development of Lane. Throw him to the wolves is his message. And he hopes the wolves will finish Lane off. Believe me, these are no pet wolves that the poster is suggesting Lane to meet.

Sure "you shut down the best players with your best players", he is not wrong in a sense, but imo it would be idiotic to put Lane in that spot and position at this point.

Let me know if you need more translations of such posts. I know those posts all too well.
Slow down there guy, just because I am bringing up at the moment that Hutson's competition appears to be weaker than who he is being compared to most frequently, doesn't mean I'm trying to discredit what Hutson has done.

Makar and Hughes have the full season to go off of, Hutson is only half way through. Makar and Hughes could have had a similar looking chart half way through their season. I genuinely wish to see if Hutson can maintain the success, while increase his workload against the best players in the league, which would befit a star.

Cause quite frankly, I don't view a player as a star unless they are doing this against the best of the best, therefore for him truly get into that star category (for me), he would need to maintain the success against better players.

My profile pic may designate my fandom, and thus the a perceived bias for a player that is brought up, but don't get it twisted. I think Hutson is a phenomenal player, and I am excited to see how the next few years play out for him.

And to think the title and mere existence of this thread has been mocked at and ridiculed from the get go. Seems the title is apropos and Hutson himself more than thread worthy.

No?

Nah, HFBoards has rendered the verdict that Hutson hasn't done anything special at this point. He still behind Celebrini and Michkov on the Calder.

Thats one way to do it, but at the same time.. how often do you see something like lions and tigers take on each other? Or hippos and crocodiles? Not often.

Thats the thing, guys like Hutson and Makar and Hughes are VULTURES! They should be given a chance to feast on their opponents, not to be put against the fattest and meanest pack leaders. You only learn how to effectively dismantle an atom bomb when you start by dismantling fire crackers.

If there are juicy points available behind a light wooden fence, theres no need to try to hack down the Berlin wall. Also some bullets are used in sniper guns, some in close combat shotguns. You pick the right tool for the right job. Opening a can of tuna with a needle can be a fun challenge but its much more beneficial to thread the needle.

Lane never says no to a challenge. But he is smart enough to not try to overcome Mt. Everest before climbing the hill next door. Also there is no need to give the opponents' absolute top guns extra learning chances on Laney. Save the aces for the late rounds of playoffs.

Is there anything else from the encyclopedia that you’d like to discuss? 😬😅

I have watched hockey for more than 40 years and I have not seen anyone played like Hutson. A lot of people said Hutson played like Hughes but I disagree. Both players had incredible hockey IQ. Hughes relies on skating while Hutson main weapon is deception.
I think they're both just smaller guys who are slick with their stick by the blue line. I def saw some similarities watching them play head to head, but yeah those differences are glaring.

Lane actually could have had 5 points that game easy due to his seeing a sneak play that could lead to a high danger chance.

You are quite right. As I mentioned before Hutson has very high hockey IQ. He can see how the scoring chance is going to happen and use all kind of deceptive move to get the puck there. Just too bad the Habs didn’t have forwards who can finishes the job.

Hopefully with how good he has been playing, he starts playing more against the other teams best players. I know I want my teams best players to go against the other teams best players, cause the best way to shut down those players is to just outplay them.

Isn't Makar also playing WITH some of the best players in the NHL? How much stronger were the 2019-2020 Avs vs this years Habs?

Unless you're willing to cover every variable showing advanced stats like these mean nothing.

That's not really a significant difference, the greater difference is that Hutson has spent relatively less time on ice with his team's most played forwards compared to Hughes and Makar in their rookie seasons.

avs were 3rd overall in pts % that year

Kid is learning how to play in his own end very fast. Remarkable the improvement in only half a season. He does so many impressive things that never show in the stats sheet.
He's a hockey savant, IQ off the charts. He made some great defensive plays tonight including in OT to set up the winner

Indeed. The Habs' ascent to a playoff spot is largely due to Hutson figuring things out so quickly. He's a game changer when he's on the ice nowadays. He makes everyone around him better.

I know I'm biased but he should be the Calder front runner imo
He and Celebrini are definitely the frontrunners as of now. If Hutson continues to improve like he's been doing then he has a good shot at the Calder. Hutson has had the biggest positive impact on his team of any rookie, that's for sure.

I think he was double shifted in the 3rd period in the game tonight. He played with a burning desire to win.
