Landeskog Practicing w/Team

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
I think we need to be prepared for Landeskog potentially being unable to play every game. He might need to play 1, sit 1, or something like that until he is fully game-fit and not feeling any discomfort after games.

Kiviranta might end the season on 20 goals and has also been a key PKer for Bednar. I think it's unlikely he sits. Kelly has already been a healthy scratch(along with LOC) for rotation of Vesey/Wood.

Most likely, IMO:

Landeskog - Coyle - Colton
Kiviranta - Drury - O'Connor

When Landy can't go, Kivi goes up to the 3rd line and Kelly slots in.

That's just how I see it shaking out.

I see it the same way. Yeah, Kivi doesn’t have a TON of points but he provides way more than just on the scoresheet. Though I feel like since switching to wing Kelly has been fantastic, Kivi can play just as well defensively while having more offensive touch.

That's a valid approach too. Kelly has been good on the 4th line though and there's something to be said for keeping functioning lines together as much as possible to not mess with chemistry.

I think this conversation about which forward goes out if Landy comes back is absolutely lovely. I mean, there's no right answer. Any of Kiviranta, Colton, Kelly, Drury, O'Connor, Wood, and Vesey would be solid options in our bottom 6, and we can only use 4 out of those 7 guys. I think Bednar just does an open competition. 4 of those guys are in, and wheoever plays worst is out to be replaced by one of the guys in the wings. I assume Kivi, Colton and Drury would get first crack, by God what an amazing problem to have going into the playoffs.

Brings to mind the Emperor’s (Christopher Walken’s) line to the Baron in Dune. “More, more! Give me more!”

Landy is my favourite player in any sport and I can’t wait to see him on the ice again. So, he’s definitely coming back for game 3 just in time to be on vacation where I will not live to see another day if I put the game on in the middle of the night
Live long and prosper (and watch it on replay)!

At some point, when the abyss smiles at you, you just need to smile back and watch the damn game. Be courteous... but simply insist that it's everyone else who are being inconsiderate by sleeping in so late that it deprives you from enjoying your vacation.

Take a couple of a blindfolds... rubber band a couple of kleenex and those squishy little yellow ear protectors to each and just start lobbing them at anyone who objects to what you are doing.

If Landeskog does come back, there's a good chance I will be in tears watching it, and I'm not ashamed to say that.
Imagine a zoom call, with all of us recoding our crying faces when he takes the ice. Bunch of blubbering idiots screaming "F-Yeah!!!" over and over again.

Dude absolutely knows he means a lot to us. But I don't think he begins to comprehend just how thoroughly we've got his back and want to see this thing work like a dream.

There are so many different types of captain. There are loud and brash captains. There are captains that will guarantee a victory. There are quite captains that lead by example and profesionalism. Then there are the captains that somehow transcend all that and actually become an avatar for their team. They become the living embodiement of what it means to play for an organization in living flesh.

Gabe is such a captain.

Yours will not be the only tears spilt that glorious evening.

You know damn well some of those tears would be from some folks crying about the possible cap implications

LOL. I’m already in a world of trouble for possible last minute changes of plans based on the outcome of a game next Saturday morning. Calling people inconsiderate for wanting to sleep past ~02:00 wouldn’t win me many friends

Going to hold out hope that either Dallas falters enough for us to grab the 2 spot or Manson goes to LTIR and Wood to the gulag so we can sneak Landy in for the last regular season game first. Never really dreamed either team would be as good or in the position they are when this got booked or I would’ve taken what at the time seemed the bigger gamble and booked it for early-mid April instead

That would be fun haha

I have a MacKinnon jersey that I got at the time that I used to sometimes refer to Landy as Captain Minor Penalty. But since those days, he became the epitome of what I want to see in a captain. A guy who stands up for his teammates, speaks for the team on and off the ice, and leads both by example and by setting expectations. He also just seems like the perfect, ideal human being. In other circumstances I might be jealous of him, but he seems like such a humble, mature, intelligent, reliable person that I am just unable to bring myself to do anything but wish the best for him and be happy for everything good he has in his life. it would be so easy for him to have a big ego, be rude to people not his level, or be a narcissist, so it's even more impressive what a decent person he seems to be. I honestly have a hard time imagining a time when I am not supportive of him. Like, even if he became head coach and was doing a terrible job, I'd be saying. "They need to fire him, but I want him to get another shot elsewhere and become a great coach". But then I can't imagine him doing a terrible job at anything.
