Trade Panarin and fire Gallant, this team needs a culture/style change big time.

I would say trade Trouba too but no one is touching that contract.

First game for a while for me that I was able to watch and it was a tough one to chew. I still think this team will not win a cup no matter how the kids would improve.

I dont think Mika is cup winning teams number one center. Panarin.. uff does he even play for the team. Laff is like an injured animal that is waiting someone to put it out its miseary. There is lots of positive things, but in my opinion there is also need for big changes.

Playoff team, but far away from winning the cup.

SCUST

Sharts of the game:
Mika - for -5 SOG or + wide game
Bread - Would’ve had the same impact staying in midtown.

Tuba - for killing offense then the following shift killing defense.

So who do we like on this roster?

Chytil, Kakko, Fox, Miller, Lindgren, Schneider and Shesty?

Panarin is a magic turd - all world production, awful actual on ice performance - 12M

Zibanejad is the most bipolar, inconsistent dude. Maybe if he was in a second fiddle role he’d be less frustrating but he can’t carry the mail

Trouba is turning into everything we memed him being the last couple of seasons - just awful

Goodrow - I mean, whatever, but why is making almost 4M? I feel like Rydahl wouldn’t be a significant downgrade and save 3M on the cap

Blais - career is basically over. Never was quick, now he literally can’t keep up

Trochek - he’s been fine but he’s not a good enough 2C, especially when Mika can’t really handle being the 1C and he’s just part of a big money tie up in older players

Kreider - basically the same as Trochek, homegrown, well liked, producing okay, but he’s not a play driver or a real difference maker and he’s big money over 30

Laf - patience or no, the fact that he was #1OA and this is what we’ve got for now is infuriating

Kravtsov - meh? Shows promise sometimes? Reminds me of 20 other Russian kids with good hands who bounced around the league a bit, racked up about 300 NHL games and went back to Russia

Vesey - been playing okay but does anyone actually LIKE Jimmy Vesey being one of the better players on your team?

Gauthier - kinda same as Vesey. He’s earned NHL time for sure, but he’s unlikely to ever belong on a winning roster

Miller, Fox, Chytil and Kakko have been good. Schneider is having a nice sophomore season and considering how green he still is, has been good. Lindgren is racking up some decent assist totals while being lovable just because he’s a pit bull that doesn’t feel pain. Do we like anyone else on this whole roster?
I happen to like Gauthier. His speed deserves a chance to move up to line 3. Other than that you're spot on. This roster licks donkey balls. It's one thing to be top heavy, but we're top heavy with salaried guys who shrivel up like dead flowers & who are softer than creme puffs. On top of being the slowest team in the league, bar none.

I always like to think the boys got tossed out of the front office because of the Trouba deal, but then the current coach made him captain. How this guy showed enough to earn the capital he did I’ll never know. Jets fans should clap instead of boo when they see his busted ass

So many unforced errors by Gallant. It’s bigger then him, but so frustrating.

How is Goodrow out there so much in the 3rd? If accountability were real Goodrow should sit a game. Horrible TO on the first goal and horrible overcommitment leading to a wide open lane on the tying goal. Complete joke Gallant trots this guy out there seemingly every other shift in the 3rd.

How does Kakko again not get an OT shift when he is one of the best possession players NYR have?

How is Blais in the lineup? Can he be sent down on a conditioning assignment? He has no business dressing in an NHL game right now.

This team, and most of the teams NYR has fielded over the last 15 years, are what happen when you approach winning the Stanley Cup with the mindset of..."all we have to do is get to the playoffs and then anything can happen"

That is not a cup winning future
The 2018 trade deadline is going to go down as one of the biggest busts in sports history.

No other team had such a head start in their rebuild. Gorton had the benefit of liquidating a playoff caliber roster, a roster just a few months removed from the 2nd round of the playoffs. And had to do everything possible to choke away what should have been a sure ticket to the ECF.

Trading away huge names such as: Hayes, Miller, McDonagh, Nash, Zuccarello.

That right there should've returned enough draft capital to singlehandedly fund a Cup contender.

Instead, we barely gave anything to show for it. Lindgren and the pick that was used to draft KA Miller.

You don't like Ryan Carpenter or Jonny Hockey Brodzinski?

Laughing at the Zibanejad bashing. How soon we forget the playoffs he just had.

The proper thing to do after this game is question why this team can’t hold two goal leads in the 3rd. Smells like a coaching problem.

  • On cutting down the lines near the end, “that was exactly what it was. Nothing that they did wrong, I just go with my defensive guys and Goody is one of those guys.”

Goody, one of those guys.

Well luck comes into play (NYR needs like 10x more of it than other orgs for forwards) here. Laf being poop is really the pits and just destroys our chances of having a cost effective young team that grows together. Our defense though isn't really that bad. Trouba is, but K, BS, and Lindgren were all hits in my op.
