Yeah well lets see how Todd makes a roster with Larkin, Raymond, Kane etc. produce more than 30th in the league, im not going to hold my breath waiting tho.

But that's what coaches are for.
If he can instill a system that doesn't treat the puck like a live grenade in the defensive zone that will help the transition to offense tremendously. You can't score if you aren't willing to maintain possession of the puck. Willingly tossing it away via chips and flips out of the zone is insanity.

Way to ignore what I was actually responded too.

You said he hasnt improved the team at all during his tenure (wrong) and has aimed to bottom out the entire time (also wrong). And yeah, the team hasnt improved this season, so he took action to fix it.

So Steve didn’t mean to pick in the bottom ten? What was his goal all this time then?

bro's too scared to tell us which his team is. probably has a sabres logo on his jammys

You could, y’know, just refute the arguments instead of trying to deflect.

Is there a flow chart of the rebuild process? It just sounds like the rebuild is not meeting your expectations.

Basement > Respectability > Playoffs > Cup. Yzerman has yet to get beyond “Basement”.

Sadly McLellan's vision of hockey seems to be dump and dont chase, and the "good" old 1-3-1. But thats this far, maybe he has some new tricks up his sleeve, im not going to bury him before i see what they do.

The 1-3-1 only comes into play if you don't have the puck. I'm talking about when we gain possession in our end and then willingly toss it away. That shit needs to end. Have a cohesive breakout. Maintain possession up ice and then play some offense. If you lose possession, they can 0-5 for all I care to get the puck back. But once you get it. Keep it.

Just learned of this 25 minutes ago...Cannot express how excited I am!

Has Yzerman ever come out and said how long the rebuild will take?

They aren't talented enough.

Let them make another high pick this draft. Draft someone that's NHL ready.

This guy, Axel Sandin-Pellikka, looked great in the WJC today. He had 3g 1a. He was the most exciting player to watch during the Sweden/Slovakia game. Do you know who owns his rights? Detroit.

The Devils sucked for a decade. Now? They're within two years of being the best team in hockey.

If you're looking for a coach to be a savior, it's never happening. Hopefully, you bring in a new coach and they have something new to teach your young guys. I feel like that's more of a reasonable expectation.

I'll use the Devils as an example. Maybe Keefe doesn't win the cup with the Devils. But he sure as hell taught them to play team defense.

Whatever McLellan's system is - he's a better coach and a lot more successful than what Lalonde will ever be at the NHL level.

Detroit might actually have a shot at a wildcard spot.

The Kings had some of the best controlled zone exit and entries numbers in the league with McLellan. So not sure this is all that true

you do realize how unfireable Yzerman is in the forseeable future don't you?

the question isn't how many coaching hires he gets, it's how many interns he would need to grope, his job is that safe in Detroit
You're a weirdo.

Build the prospect pool up and unless theyre ready right off the bat (Raymond/Seider) slowly intregrate them in when theyre ready to make the show (Kasper/Edvinsson). And in the meantime, sign stop gap players who's contract will be up around the time those prospects should be knocking on the door to make the team.

and again, you completely ignore the fact that they have improved every season and were a point away from making the Playoff's last season. This season remains to be seen.

Cherry pick whatever stats you like. The kings were miserable to watch under the f***ing koala.
Yeah and thats a different statement than saying that he plays a system where you dump it in and dont chase it, no?

The Wings have a deep prospect pool.

Just keep an eye on the WJC.

Nah. Dumping it in and not chasing was a large part of what made the kings impossible to watch under this bozo.
Well yeah it is two statements.

And the stats dont back up that McLellan coached teams do this, at least not compared to other teams.

Is there any team that went from dead-last in the league to the playoffs in a shorter time than 6 years, without a top-3 draft pick?

Why did Lalonde get fired it was Whyzerman who brought in the talent he had to work with...and a lot of his moves were plain garbage
