I bet this guy was mad when the Habs failed to land Dubois.

It's okay though, I'm sure Newhook is going to be a 100+ point player for you guys, just like you probably thought Jonathan Drouin would produce when he was acquired for Sergachev.

it's a nice distraction for how awful our goaltending is

I think that is part of it, but once it became evident that there was more than one team he would go to and sign with I am sure the Jets and Habs circled back. Think it mostly boils down to futures vs current players. Jets want to stay in the mix for a playoff spot.
I suppose I was being a bit unfair to Montreal, and the proof would be the haul that Winnipeg got. We could imagine that Montreal offered more, but not Iafallo+Vilardi. They weren't going to offer Suzuki of course, so maybe it would have been Dach + futures, and maybe even if they were really impressive futures, Winnipeg just wanted players who would help them win now. Maybe Dach, Guhle + would have done it?

You’re going to wanna tread carefully here.

You’re talking about two gigantic trigger points for our French-speaking HF residents.

Dach is about to break out into the center Montreal has dreamed of for decades, and Guhle is Chris Pronger reincarnated.
but PLD is Vinny Lecavalier. can't pass that up

Tavares is the only one that actually comes to mind.
I don't recall NYI wanting to trade for Tavares, and Leafs fans saying they will sign him for free next off season. But I do agree it is an example of a star free agent coming home, moreso unexpectedly.

Peanut Gallery Dullard Fallacy

The Peanut Gallery Dullard Fallacy is most often encountered on hockey internet forums. While obnoxiously quoting other more commonly known logical fallacies, the PGD does not realize the sweet irony of his or her (or its) inane pronouncements. You see, the fallacy is simply this: There can only be one. Highlander, Lord of the Rings, Neo, whatever. Move aside. Only one NHL team (and it's GM, President, HC, etc.) made no mistakes. Everyone else on every other team is an incompetent moron. Period.

Emboldened by a 96.875% chance of being "correct," the PGD loudly projects...er, proclaims the inadequacies of his team's GM over and over again, knowing that the ace up his or her (or its) sleeve is the one in a million chance his team actually wins the Cup. As with most inadequacies, the PGD will defend his or her (or its) proclamations belligerently, mustering up cohorts of other PGDs like a merry Band of Broheims to drown out any and all opposing opinions. Gasp! [Autistic girl snarl] How dare they? [/Autistic girl snarl]

Yes, I am a Kings fan. Guess where you can find an entire board of PGDs echoing the same logical fallacy over and over again. They think their monolithic negativity signals intelligence, but in reality it's just a primal emo scream: "Leave Britney alone!"

Sigh....a paradigm shift back to normalcy is long overdue.

If you’ve clearly stated your opinion on something, and it goes against the peanut gallery, make sure you take them to task when you’re proven right.

I have fought fellow Jets fans and savages from foreign fan bases. I always get proven right… eventually. You will likely be considered unpopular but I would rather promote the virtuous correct opinions rather than kow-tow to the peanut gallery.

Apologies to Kings fans for Ducks signing Terry as that apparently is somehow meaningful in this NEVER ENDING battle vs some habs fans.

I'd say we're just here for the laughs but nothing will ever top the guy who was insistent the Danault contract was going to be worth over 1 million per goal

I've started to devise a formula that shows the hotter the takes against = the higher the likelihood of us actually being happy with it

Nevertheless, it's too much for Dubois.

I heard he has requested a trade out of LA

The man is trying to collect as many jerseys with his name on the back as possible at this point. I'm sure he looks at photoshops of his face on other jerseys and thinks 'wow I look good in that with my muskateer moostache and all and wow my green eyes really match well with Minny Wild green eh?'

How dare you! This guy is the next Sakic! Ask any Habs fan! They'd have to think long and hard about trading him straight up for McDavid. The best they could offer for Dubois was Anderson, Dvorak, and a spoonful of shit.

Fiala - PLD - Arvidsson

I think this is likely PLD's new wingers for next season. PLD and Fiala together have a ton of potential to become one of the most dangerous duos in the NHL. Fiala is still the better player of the two though.
