I have a feeling this one will not age well at all...

It's pretty ridiculous. Him and Dach are high picks their own teams were fine giving up on. That's as big a red flag as there is. PLD has his personality flaws but his on ice performance is not his limiting factor.
Columbus gave up on pld...I mean why else would you trade a former 3oa big center?

Because that big baby center quit on the ice, giving up on his team? Why wouldn’t you trade that kind of cancer? Especially when you can get the second overall in his same draft plus another player as well?
100%

Maybe vilardi actually is better than pld

I am pretty sure it will age well. The only question with regard to Dach is his health. Chicago dumped everyone to tank for Bedard. Sakic moved Newhook because he knows his coach won't give young players a chance.

There is a thread for him because it looked like he was going to force his way to the Habs. Many of us weren't interested in him unless it was for futures or cheap. Already had 2 centres equal or better than him and now 3 with Newhook.

So cringe and embarrassing. Just take the L on this and move on. Most fanbases have lost out on acquiring a good player, there is no shame in it!

Your point about PLD being "given up on" is a fair one. Even if the context is different.

Hopefully Vilardi is somehow actually better than PLD and we can both live happy lives lol
You guys will love Vilardi
His on ice vision and ability to dangle and get the puck to the open guy are on elite level.
I am extremely sad that Vilardi was traded

Most fan bases don’t swoon over a player for over a year, create threads with 10K+ posts on it devoted to said player, or troll the current holder of the player that they will “get him for free” or for their trash.

Frankly, I am rather enjoying how they are reacting to a debacle of their own making. Let this be a lesson to other fan bases to not repeat their mistakes lest it blow up in their faces. :)

That is because there are 20 times as many fans of the Habs on HF as any other team but Toronto.

okay lets relax now Suzuki yes Dach i like hes potentiel more but he has to prove it but Newhook wont even be a center and even if he does become one he has alot to prove to reach Dubois skill

Would Danault been a better piece for Winnipeg? Like, let's say, Danault + for PLD?

We know for a fact that Danault hate the idea of playing on the 3rd line (it's the #1 reason he bailed on Montréal - he didn't want to play behing both Suzuki and Kotkaniemi) and with this trade, he ain't playing in front of both Kopitar and PLD

I know he re signed but Kopitar will eventually get taken out behind the wood shed. He may transition to 3c before too long.

I don't think he needs to worry much about ice time. Moore - Danault - Arvidsson is the line that's stuck together the most and I doubt McLellan just suddenly changes that. Coaches love a line they can trust.

I think the Kings were comfortable with this trade because both Byfield and Kaliyev have more to show but with Vilardi and Iafallo in the fold there's only so many minutes to go around. Now they can put those guys with Kopitar (or PLD) without giving up a top 6 center from Fiala and Kempe. Not to mention Kopitar's age.

It's a "top 9" team instead of top 6 heavy so whatever the paper say doesn't really matter for Danault's role.

In my opinion, ultimately how much better the Kings are (if at all) depends on how those younger guys seize the opportunity, and that includes Clarke from the back-end.

Like I said, Danault pretty much admitted he quit on us because of that
