Trade should have been Byfield and Iafalo for PLD. Byfield may even have higher upside than Vilardi. Just the Kings are in win now mode and Vilardi would help the Kings more right now than Byfield.

Depth wins cups. Not individual players.

If your statement was truly the case then the Pens would have won a bunch more cups and Edmonton would be winning them left and right these last few years.

I think PLD is a #1C, just a lower end one. There's probably 20 or so guys locked in as 1Cs, then 20 or so that you could debate. Dubois, Suzuki, Tavares, Norris are all guys I think are in that "maybe" group, all have some kind of flaw which holds them back.

There is a thread for him because it looked like he was going to force his way to the Habs. Many of us weren't interested in him unless it was for futures or cheap. Already had 2 centres equal or better than him and now 3 with Newhook.
