Garbage. Montreal did not pass on getting Dubois. Dach and Newhook will likely be as good or better and certainly they will be more of a winner than Dubois. Habs had only Anderson and Dvorak to offer and that wasn't of interest to the Jets assuming it was offered. LA bid against themselves, an MB specialty.
And Dubois wasn't interest in joining the Habs or he would have forced his way to Montreal.
I get why Montreal passed on PLD

That said, there is zero indication Dach or Newhook are anything more than a new regime making the same moves they did a few years ago with Anderson and Dvorak.

There are exceptions to rules, so I won't say a player can't ever break out unexpectedly. But Dach and Newhook profiles look like 3rd liners on good teams. Not busts but not top six guys either.

This comparison makes no sense at all. Dvorak and Anderson were 25 and 26 when we acquired them with little to no room to grow. They were more or less what you see is what you get which fit in with a completely different management teams philosophy under Bergevin. Dach and Newhook are completely different. They were 21 and 22 when acquired and were picked up because they were viewed as having a lot of untapped upside, especially Dach. There’s a lot of teams fans just spouting out nonsense about things they know nothing about and this post is a perfect example of that. If Dach breaks out, it may be unexpected to somebody like yourself who hasn’t followed him, especially in the last year, but it won’t be a shock to Habs fans. And that’s why he was never even an option in a trade for Dubois.

NUFF SAID.

people think Dubois career has been 45 seconds long.

I wouldn’t worry Kings fans. He will be a fan favorite pretty quickly.

Habs didn’t pass, they failed because they don’t have the assets.

I have read that now a couple of times. Where is this based on.

If anything Dach will continue to be a PP specialist with a limited scoring touch. Newhook has potential but still has a lot to prove. The winner tag is also something. The Habs will be a basement team for years to come, with all respect, unless something drastically happens. No Montreal fan should talk about winning now with such a team.

I can't do much besides ask you to bookmark it and throw it in my face if I'm wrong. Easy way out for me, but it's true.

You are right about the age of the players. They should have more room to grow than the examples I used earlier.

It's just that their profiles do not suggest in any way that these guys are on track to become 2nd line players on a contender. That's all I'm saying.

I may sound dumb in half a year from now, but it's how I feel.

GM for the Jets got haul for this trade
GM Will have to do this all over again with those LA players cause they may not want to resign in Winnipeg .
I would hate relocating from LA to Winnipeg
Chevy got the hardest GM job in NHL attracting free agents

I keep hearing on hear that Montreal passed on PLD.

Then you watch the talking heads on TV etc and everyone of them said Montreal could not offer what Winnipeg wanted and LA had the roster ready players Winnipeg wanted to stay competitive.

All I know is when Montreal jump back in it cost us another second rounder. So be happy that you still screwed us.

I questioned plds work ethic when he had to come to Winnipeg and quarantine for two weeks. Pretty much said he didn't really exercise or do any conditioning for two weeks. And sure enough his consistency and work ethic were poor.
He talked about that in an extensive interview with Marek and Friedman. It sure doesn't sound to me like it was because he's lazy and lacks work ethic.

Vilardi had back issues in the past, but I honestly think he's over them. He ran out of steam last season after a hot start - hopefully it's nothing more than a need to up his endurance.

I still think Kupari breaks out - I think his upside is a solid third liner.

Iafallo is a pro who does all the little things right.

Cause Columbus, where nobody wants to play after a season or two sent him to the equivalent of the Canadian Columbus. He's in Manhattan Beach now, it's like discovering plutonium by accident

Has there been any word in Winnipeg on Vilardi and Kupari’s contract asks?

You would think Winnipeg would’ve had some inkling of what the contract asks were prior to making the trade. I know they’re busy trying to trade other people off the roster, but I thought we’d be hearing some rumors about the contracts.

They decided to start off with group therapy for them and the other acquisitions first.
Chevy not dumb.
