If the money is right, players pretty easily forget.... The way Vegas hast treated players over the years, hell, not a single "star"-player on his mind should sign there... And yet, they get their shinny toy every year.....

The majority of the players know damn well it´s also a business. Even Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty....
Or maybe 20-something’s like the idea of living and playing in Vegas.

Disappointed that Quick won't be retiring a King but I understand why it had to be done.

Also Arizona...

Kings should have bought out Quick's final year during this past off-season, but Petersen mentally falling off a cliff messed up their plans. With his playoff performance, Kings could have at least tried to trade Quick with salary retained. It appears to me that GM Blake is not that personable even with the long time vets, nor should he be. Quick didn't have a NMC/NTC, so he was putting his faith that the Kings would honor his full contract. This is a business, so feathers get ruffled here and there. For the naysayers, you could argue that Quick didn't honor his part of his contract on the final year with the fact his performance was so horrible.
Quick was great last year

Why didnt Quick choose to just play better?

It sucks to hear the truth but that is the truth. He took his salary from the Kings but did not honor his end of the deal and perform.

That's how contracts work. Take emotion out of it.
They could also have informed him weeks ago of their intention

Exactly. What was LA supposed to do? Trade a top 9 forward to clear cap space and make the team worse? Great trade by LA IMO.

Is Quick a hall of famer?

2 cups, one Conn Smythe, 2 Jennings, but lots of down seasons too. Reminds me of Chris Osgood's career.

Quick is my favorite all time King but due to the circustances this had to be done. He had a very good second half and playoffs last year but has been really bad (I mean BAD) this year, so with the Petersen situation and Copley deserving to be the backup (quick coundn’t cut it) this trade needed to be done. It sucks but that what it is.

It is close, I think he gets in. Barrasso is not in but the story on him was he was a total jerk to to he media and are holding that against him.
