When players are in their prime they hold their teams hostage for eight year deals that negatively impact the team’s fortunes when they suck as old players taking up very valuable cap space. Don’t feel sorry for these players.

This is like the whole family complaining about the old dog stinking up the living room every day for months then one day your dad takes him out back and shoots him.

Good call dad, the water bill was bad enough as is. Include dog shampoo in that? Hell no.

I wish he hadn’t used the same tactic to when we complained about the computer being slow though…..

Pretty much this, and players who pout about it should just keep it to themselves and be grateful for making millions of dollars playing a game, they can fire their agents for not getting a proper NTC or NMC done, that's on them.

Yes, hockey is a business, but a proper business manager also manages people and expectations. Getting your entire staff angry is not great for moral and usually isn't a good managerial tactic. A good manager would have talked with Quick and other team leaders before the trade to get some buy-in from everyone, and the fact that there is talk players were really upset on the flight back home after hearing the news tells me this didn't happen.

Do you feel sorry for them when they're getting underpaid when they're young and don't have any say in where they play? It's a balance. The more the league hinders players when they're young, the more those players should cash in when they can.

I'm not sure how LA did Quick dirty. Quick sucks. LA is competing. If you're not helping, you're hindering. Columbus isn't taking Petersen back because he's terrible, too, but he has 2 more seasons at 5 mill.

So, it's Quick who goes
You don’t just trade your franchise goalie right after a game and without warning. He deserved better from management.

At least it wasn't mid-game... Pierre Gauthier.

Maybe, but his terrible play should have been an indication that something might happen.

Though, I'm sure Columbus didn't want to wait until the next day just incase Los Angeles pulls out of the deal.

The guy was one of the faces of the team and won them Stanley Cups... Sure if a trade happens it happens BUT talk to the guy and keep him in the loop a bit.

This was brutal

Meh it's a business. LA needs to worry about winning and improving the team. Quick sucked this year and is a liability in goal. If he wants to retire a King he could have done it a few months ago when it was obvious he was done. But I guess he wants the rest of his money?

If the Kings improved their goaltending, Quick would have to either be traded or sent to the minors. I wonder what's worse
