Awesome to hear Carter could be back so soon, but in that case, I wish he'd stay home and FULLY recover.

Would also like to see Weal tried on more of a scoring line, like the 2nd or 3rd, but of course Carter being gone just means Shore is 2C and Andreoff/Lewis is 3C.

Agreed, it sounds to me like this latest is a new injury.

I think that our road matchups are getting boned by being top-heavy because that forces guys into bigger minutes than they should have, so while I don't like those lines, I appreciate the attempt to roll 4 equally-crappy lines

That 3rd line would be eaten alive on the road. No chance Sutter allows that combo.

agree sutter wouldnt likely allow it. but with gabba there and if you pair them with good d-men i don't agree they'd be eaten up on the road, esp in vancouver.

what do you think of these suggested lines by the mayor? quite the mash up but def interesting...

FWIW - Suggested #LAKings lines while Carter is out...
Pearson-Kopitar-Brown
Lucic-Lewis-Toffoli
Mersch-Weal-Gaborik
Andreoff-Shore-Nolan

not there yet.

with just one or two little twists, first i'd like to try

1. Pearson-Kopitar-Lucic

i know it's crazy, but who cares

2. Gaborik-Lewis-Toffoli

3. Mersch-Weal-Brown

etc.

i've started with kopi & looch without gabby, and pearson is the best fit there if you look at chemistry stats alone. that is the premise. it should not work, guts are telling, but what the hell. but in case if it does work, other things follow as dominoes.

I get the feeling that we're basically going to be rolling Kopi/Shore/Lewis and sometimes Andreoff down the middle with very limited minutes for Weal. Basically like it was before but minus Carter. 11 forwards.

Lucic-Kopitar-Gaborik
Pearson-Shore-Toffoli
Andreoff-Lewis-Brown

followed by a break with Andreoff-Shore/Kopitar/Lewis-Nolan.

Though my preference for the next two games would be

Pearson-Kopitar-Gaborik
Lucic-Shore-Toffoli (Maybe get Shore going with some production help from Lucic)
Mersch-Weal-Brown
Andreoff-Lewis-Nolan and blender the bottom six as need be.

i don't mind those...can't see sutter moving lewis down. he loves lewis and lew scored last game. mayor's idea of lewis going up makes more sutter sense.

i could also see looch on top line and pearson back with toffoli and maybe lewis? or shore as you suggest. shore got an assist last game though he wasn't great on the dot (39% ... he's had a number of games in a row now with mediocre face-off results).

lines: there is only one combo that is working and it's perfect: ak & dd. 5-5, 5-4, 4-5, 3-3, 3-5, you name it. kopitar and doughty. that's the best possible combo, drew and anže. yea, and quick, i forgot to mention quick. it's there, it's visible, i know it's mantra already, but it's very visible.

Lines don't matter all that much. With Carter out the team is going to be hard pressed to score goals. Some players will need to step up and show they can produce. Basically the defense is going to be hard pressed to play well enough to win games if the offense goes away.

Pearson/Lewis/Toffoli was tried last year and was crap.

Maybe Shore gets bumped up and we can see if it's just bad luck from playing with his wingers or if he's capable of hitting the back of the net.

yeah well for a long stretch there carter, toff, looch was money but then toff became a ghost...

Lucic Kopitar Toffoli. Neat.

And Shore's gonna get some sweet winger support for a bit.

I actually like the new lines. A good test for some of the young forwards as well. The only line I'm not too wild about is the one centered by Andreoff, mainly because Andreoff isn't a center.

Just for info. Kopitar average TOI for last ten games is 23:49 min. Next forward with second most average TOI in those ten games is Lucic with 18:25 min.

And Kings played those 10 games in 21 days in there was a lot of travel in that period...

We'll see what Shore's all about now that he has two wingers that can actually score.

yep... but it's not the first time he's been paired with pearson. shore's played 68 reg season nhl games, often on the third line or higher, and he's scored 3 goals and 10 assists and sits at minus 8. that's kinda "meh". often he's good at face-offs, but he goes on weak streaks there. i get that he's defensively responsible but he's been given a long leash since day one with kings

practice lines... names not numbers.
Blue: Lucic-Kopitar-Toffoli
White: Pearson-Shore-Gaborik
Yellow: Lewis-Andreoff-Brown
Purple: Mersch-Weal-Nolan

we're getting there, slowly but surely. playoff worries with top players toi handicaped in regular season, anyone? sutter, please don't kill those geese laying golden eggs. it's a long road there, and we're in front.

They've had plenty of time to recharge their batteries this offseason. Plus, I don't think anyone is playing some abnormally high amount of minutes. Kopi and Drew have been big minute guys for years. They'll be fine, especially since they had a long offseason.
