Thank goodness for these two points because the rest of the trip is gonna be uuuuugly

Need to tread water until we get healthy and can recuperate at home for most of Jan

Fatigue is already showing and this team has looked sluggish since Ottawa like I said hope it's just the flu

Looks like we might see what Weal can do in the top 6 with Carter most likely out :)

No.
Shore will move up, and Weal MAY get some third line. More likely Lewis centers 3rd line and Weal on 4th.

Also... HOLY ****. No Muzzin mainboard thread? HF, its like I don't even know you. I feel like that alone is enough to take to Bettman "How can you suspend? Didn't even get a main board thread?!"

a huge amount of special teams toi made 1st line look a bit better, but it's still bad when 5v5.

kopitar - lucic - gaborik: toi and cf% (all):
- kopitar: 28:03 and 49.15%
- lucic: 17:41 and 61.11%
- gaborik: 12:39 and 55%
- kopitar with lucic: 15:37 and 65.62%
- kopitar with gaborik: 9:27 and 46.67%
- lucic with gaborik: 9:24 and 50%

kopitar - lucic - gaborik: toi and cf% (5v5):
- kopitar: 16:16 and 42.42%
- lucic: 12:22 and 45.83%
- gaborik: 10:51 and 40%
- kopitar with lucic: 10:21 and 47.62%
- kopitar with gaborik: 8:19 and 38.46%
- lucic with gaborik: 8:16 and 41.67%

it's a similar pattern as in recent games and we're starting to see some contours through a fog of small data sample. the weakest link in the trio seems to be gabby, at the moment. sutter tried gaborik & pearson for a while and it resulted in a great play and a goal. he also tried kopitar & brown but it was nothing special. anyhow, with carter out we might see some new experiments on the road trip, i suspect sutter will shuffle the lines as daily form will dictate them.

fun game and a nice win though, i hope brown will continue scoring and prove the "bad luck" theory correct.

Yeah. My buddy was saying "lucky"

I wont argue with the call too much... But our second best defenseman was given a match penalty on what some would consider a questionable call... We took a stupid penalty immediately after and dropped 2 goals during the PK. That is not lucky.... but it is what it is.

Those events aside, not a bad win. Even with those events, we won. Division game but we only gave a point to Arizona.

This is not terrible. We came close to a regulation win.

Going to clarify a couple of points here.

I meant given the fact that we had to kill off a full five minute major (where the opposing team can score as many goals as it can) AND that two full minutes of it were 5-on-3, we were fortunate that the opponent only got two goals during that time span...and afterwards as well, as the Kings most certainly appeared on their heels the last two minutes of the game at even-strength.

The second point is I don't even care about giving up the one point to ARI in that game (or any Pathetic opponent this season) because in the end it doesn't matter. If we surrender the division lead to ARI or another ****ty Pathetic Division team this season then we don't ever deserve to win another division title ever again.

After sleeping on it a night, I am ok with giving up the point. Muzzin was unlucky. Even some of the Yotes fans agree ( yes I read their board). I am hopeful that he will play on Monday. I understand the refs felt the need to call something. There was no two minute penalty they could call, so they threw the book at him.

from slovenian forums: joy. and that ot goal is kopi's trademark. he mastered the move to perfection, and he is selling it from his day 1.

his first goal in nhl:

a very similar one, against lindqvist two years ago, 5hole virtuoso:

plus a quote from brown after last game: ''It was just a power move,'' Kings captain Dustin Brown said. ''I think a lot of guys have that move, but Kopi has the patience few players have to wait it out.''

keep it coming :handclap:

Not even a main board thread for Muzzin's hit. I guess even the biggest haters can tell Jake wasn't doing the flying butt pliers on Gordon.

Yeah, if it had been Brown, it would still be buzzing. Main board you disappoint.

Twas the night after Christmas, when all through the board
Not a cretin was stirring, not even to post Kings' hate.

(Yeah, it doesn't rhyme, so sue me. Anyway, that's the style past the 19th Century.)

How rare is a Dustin Brown Power Play Goal?

BTW, that was Dustin Brown's 4th PPG in his last 231 games including playoffs (not DAYS, GAMES!).

That's 4 PPG since May 17, 2013 (2 years, 7 months, 11 days or 955 Days)

Yet, he has the 4th highest PP TOI among Kings wingers.

:help::handclap::(

No additional discipline for Muzzin per @reallisa from the LA Times.

Just to clarify, it doesn't sound as though there is anything official yet:

Personally, from what I saw, they should rescind the match penalty.

They seem relatively sensible. I guess not having much success for a while has gotten rid of a lot of the blowhards from their fanbase. There were a few nice things said about Kopitar too. :handclap:

Now all Bob needs is a fur coat.

From when is that TOI stat? Because it feels like Brown has barely gotten any powerplay time at all the last two years.

4th among wingers, but 6th among forwards. Its not that much of a surprise considering who we have below him.

Awesome to hear Carter could be back so soon, but in that case, I wish he'd stay home and FULLY recover.

Would also like to see Weal tried on more of a scoring line, like the 2nd or 3rd, but of course Carter being gone just means Shore is 2C and Andreoff/Lewis is 3C.

Sutter is a national treasure.

In two countries no less.

Great game by Kopitar and Doughty. The Kings are going to need a lot more of that type play from Kopitar in the future.

Obviously the Muzzin call was a joke.

My only criticism would be Martinez panicking a bit when he dove to clear the puck and it ended up going over the glass. He had plenty of time to skate to the puck and make a hard clearing shot up the boards.

what do you think of these suggested lines by the mayor? quite the mash up but def interesting...

FWIW - Suggested #LAKings lines while Carter is out...
Pearson-Kopitar-Brown
Lucic-Lewis-Toffoli
Mersch-Weal-Gaborik
