Oh, I have no illusions as to what's actually going to happen. I'm just not a fan, and not going to apologize for disliking it, just like I'll never apologize for hating the coinflip of the shootout.

They can do what they want in the regular season. It is just a game after all. Touch anything in the playoffs though, and it's pitchfork and torch time.

Then call me "no one". Ties are infinitely preferable to "deciding" the game by playing something entirely different than what's been played for the past sixty minutes. They maintain the integrity of the sport and the game. This clown show is marginally "better" than the homerun derby after the 10th inning (the shootout), but it is fundamentally NOT the same contest that was played.

I'll say it again - ten-minute five-on-five OT, three points for ANY win, zero points for ANY loss, one point each for a tie. That maintains the integrity of the game instead of playing soccer for 90 minutes then playing team handball for 30 to "break the tie". Cause that's what this clown show is.
I do agree that ALL games should give out 3 points. So, regulation win 3. Regulation loss 0. OvertimeSO win 2. OverimeSO loss 1.

I say 5 points
Reg win5
OT win 4
So win 3
So loss 2
OT loss1
Reg loss 0
Make everything matter

This makes a lot of sense.

Well "Conspiracy Tuesday" is early this week: I'm guessing the reason is that the NHL wants to pad the point totals of teams for marketing. If you gave out 3 points for a regulation win there'd probably be more separation in the standings. From a marketing point of view the NHL wants as many teams in the mix going into the last week of the season. Loser points and 2 points per win should keep teams close in the standings, and lead to more people watching the games down the stretch.

-Still won't help the Oilers. :shakehead

Kopi's pass was of course not the best one, but Brown had the play in front of him in contrast to Kopitar. Brown touched the puck and wanted to lift the puck over the stick of Keith instead of getting rid of it. I understand he didnt have a lot of time, but he's a vet.

That turnover was all on Kopitar, period. He had several areas to clear it too, and he chose a weak, and I really mean weak pass to Brown that he could do nothing with. You might try that pass 5 on 5, but on the pk, you clear it.
