It was a gift, take it and run.

Boy howdy do I disagree. Boring yes, but the Kings deserved to win that game. They employed a brick wall goalie that was the only reason the Kings didn't win in regulation.

I'd chalk up Doughty's praise of Shore as another example of how much of a leader Doughty has become on the Kings. He may believe that to be true about Shore, but I think he's saying that to instill confidence in the rookie.

Doughty really is the guy who should be wearing the 'C' on this team.

He will when Brown is traded. (Yes, I went there... you have to think Deano has thought about it. The dude has just plain checked out of hockey. He's got ton of money and kids up the yin yang. He's moved on mentally. He doesn't even hit as much as he used to.)

Are we buying on this?

I don't think it's a huge stretch. The possession metrics certainly support that he's one of the best defensive centermen in the league. The next step is adding some finish to his game. It doesn't help to be playing with two offensively inept players in Lewis and Brown.

As for the win, that's probably one of the most complete games the Kings have played all year. They could have done a better job of getting traffic in front of Markstrom and generating second chances, but regardless it was utter domination.

I agree his production has fallen off, but I don't think he's checked out. He just needs a change of scenery.

I am leaving facts completely out of this and agreeing with anything Tony says the rest of the day because he used the phrase "Boy howdy"

So in conclusion, Tony is correct. Anyone who doesn't agree with him is wrong.

It was absolute domination. Scoring chances were through the roof. The only reason they didn't get 4 or 5 goals in that game was that Markstrom was standing on his head and doing spin-o-ramas with it.

VAN's defense was laughable last night. They let their goalie hang out to dry all evening long. That ice was tilted 30° the entire third period. Watching it, I knew the Kings were going to eventually break through, so I really wasn't that frustrated.

Should have beat them in regulation, however. Not that it matters. The VAN team I saw play against ANA and the Kings last night have no shot whatsoever. As one of their fans said (and a fan of this team as well, apparently), many of their players seem to have played soft (given up) in the ANA game. They played better in Los Angeles, but their defense got beat badly all night long.

He was better in the 2014 playoffs than during any other period for the last couple seasons. He'll never be 2012 playoff Brown again, that was his pinnacle, but he was playing with Kopitar and Gaborik during the 14 playoffs, and playing well. Maybe he's just not into the regular season anymore. The Kings have more offensive weapons than when Brown had to score 25, so maybe he can just do his thang until the real season starts.

That's what I'm going with anyway.

I agree his production has fallen off, but I don't think he's checked out. He just needs a change of scenery.

It would be very difficult to trade Brown. Plus I doubt the Kings are going to retain any salary to help with a move. Too many dollars are taken up to do that. I think we just need to go with the idea that Lombardi will have to build the best team he can around Brown's large cap hit. For better or worse.

Brown's played near 830 NHL games, if you include the post season that number jumps up to near 900 games.

There is a reason a 1000 NHL games is celebrated. Brown is simply getting older, and losing hockey skill. It happens to every hockey player, even the greats.

The Elite players, just don't fall off as much, but they too experience decline.

Brown is a declining player , with a large cap hit. Currently not much the Kings can do about it.

he is still able to make his teammates play better. let's say look at the triangle with 21 nicholas shore, it seems like a great combo and not just mentor-student relationship. even more drastic triangle is with 22 trevor lewis. true, he is struggling with kopi and against better defenders. but he is still a very decent 3rd liner.

Looking at Doughty and scoring goals from the blueline.

I wonder why he cant do that more often. Just like in his sophomore season.

He had more space than I've seen him have in ages on that play...if they could find ways to get him open great, but people are glued to our points for our system and our talent.

He's a play driver, that's for sure, but it's a luxury we can't afford at some point.

He needs to develop a wrist shot/snap shot, and use it more.

Slappers like he takes, are easy to get into the lane and block.

The 3rd line will get some life once King gets back into the swing of things:

King-Shore-Brown

That's a decent third line on paper. I guess with Shore, even though he hasn't stood out, he hasn't made too many glaring mistakes either. He's also good at faceoffs, which we badly need to improve on. I still think we need an upgrade at 3C if he doesn't improve though.

Brown just needs to ****ing hit more, because he's not going to be scoring.

Brownie muscled a Canuck off the puck and out of the way last night that led to scoring chance for Shore I believe. I thought to myself, "hey, I remember that guy from the 2012 playoffs!"
he has the tools to be a solid player but he just doesnt use them

Definitely remember exactly what you're talking about.

I think he forgets he has the Lucic ability to make d-men hear footsteps and is actually immensely good at separating people from the puck.

The fact that people think Kings lucked their way to a win is comical.
So, Thank You!

He doesn't even lead the team in hits anymore. Even when he was struggling, that physicality was always there. Lucic has more hits than Brown does. Sad.
