Brutal for Columbus and I don’t think Laine is someone who is overly appealing to Anaheim either.

If Laine bounces back, he is significantly more valuable than this trade package. Don't think Laine is moved unless it's basically a 1-for-1 swap.

Laine needs to be with the right centre. He needs an Adam Oates, who can get him the puck in the right spots.

CBJ's should not trade Laine now. If he is having a decent season maybe trade him at the deadline if the Jackets are out of the POs which they most likely will be no matter how good Laine plays.

The risk is what if Laine's last season was not a outlier and is now a one dimensional PP specialist that doesn't even do that very well anymore then his trade value will drop immensely and the CBJs have a big problem on their hands.

I think people forget, Laine isn't like your average player. He has a skill (his shot) that few if any have in the NHL. If Laine fails to bounce back; his next contact is going to be less than the 7m he's making this year. And CBJ will keep him as a PP specialist (i guess that's his floor) and CBJ can afford that. So why would CBJ trade a player with a unique skill for any (or a package of) average player? It's not like Laine is past his prime, it's not like there's no chance he can't improve. And with his size and shot, if he matures into a serious hockey player, could be one of the best players in the league. Does anyone in that package have a chance to be that? I read a lot of opinions on Laine from other fanbases (that want him on their team) but never heard a good reason why CBJ should trade him besides "Laine bad, mkay."

Either pay premium price or give a good reason why CBJ move him.

I would easily top that offer.
Laine would be one of the few players i would gamble our young guns on.

Turcotte + Iafallo for Laine

Not sure i would give up Turcotte unless we see a good rebound from Laine. At which point it may cost more, but at least than I know.
Columbus would have every right to ask for Turcotte but I would try and do a JAD, Iafallo, pick/madden deal. Don't truly think it would get it done though.

Having fun here guessing which of the 3 or 4 posters I have blocked even suggested this, but it is beyond laughable.

And Iafallo is a better player than Laine.

Laine's potential is so much greater than any of those pieces from Anaheim that Columbus would be insane to entertain it. At the same time, given Laine's contract status, giving up anything more is a real gamble. If Columbus wants or needs to trade Laine, they would be best-served allowing teams to speak with him about a contract extension. On a reasonable deal (a few more years at or near his current salary), and on a better team, he's likely worth a lot.

With that said, the best prospect I'd be willing to move for Laine from LA would be Rasmus Kupari, with picks and a roster player or two supplementing the rest of the value. Something like Kempe, Kupari, and a second for an extended Laine. Playing with Kopitar or Danault, two defensive powerhouses, would likely make up for any defensive shortcomings Laine has, plus both centers are excellent passers. He's still young enough that we could pair him with Byfield and/or Vilardi down the line too.

Most LA fans probably disagree with me though! :)

Why are there multiple Anaheim fans turning this down?

Even if you’re not a Laine believer, you’re getting a proven goalscorer for a collection of B assets

There is no chance the trade him for a return like this. So assuming the Ducks have to include either the 2022 or 2023 1st this is an easy no for me.
Laine is not someone I want to pay 8 mil a year and that's what he will cost MINIMUM.

The Ducks are better off sticking to the rebuild and their 1st rounders are gold for the next 2 seasons.

I could not disagree more, I think trading Turcotte would be a gigantic mistake. He is as untouchable to me as Byfield.
