As a Finn and Laine fan, this makes me a little sad. I really liked the idea of Laine as a Jet and staying there long term, but the road got bumpy and I guess this was the only option. I was really hoping that the Jets and Laine would figure things out and he would be a key part of long term success. Oh well...

Thanks... we'll miss our Finn' fans as well...

We enjoy their company on HFJets...

Perfetti isn’t winger depth right now, he’s a prospect. And by the time he’s usable as a top six option, Wheeler will likely be unusable to any reasonable coach.

Not necessarily. I know it stings but you gotta look at it with a clear mind. We probably have the best winger depth in the division still and just got on par with every other teams C depth as well.

The Leafs probably have better wing depth and certainly have better C depth still.

Dubois plays a complete game comparable to a Toews, O’Reilly, Kopitar, Bergeron.

What do those centre men have in common? Inflated power play goal totals or about 10 Stanley Cups between them.

Dubois is incredible. The Jets now have the best centre depth in the Canadian division and top 3 in the NHL

Man, so many of us Jets fans were out to lunch on trade values.

Sad. Dubois better help drive 200 foot play.

In summer when Laine publicly asked for a trade, the rumor was that the Jets wanted Pesce and Necas from Carolina but Carolina balked. I like this package more than Pese/Necas.

Though Laine never asked for a trade. In public at least. We don't know what happened privately. And after that Jets did acquire Stastny to fix the 2nd line problem.

3rd pick = Jacks value

PLD = Laine

Very fair deal, helps all three players out, all wanted to be traded both GM’s did it. Jets had loads of winger depth and a nearly 10 year lack of depth at centre so they traded from a point of strength to fill a position of weakness.

Having elite level centre depth is more critical then elite level winger depth. Great trade for both teams.

People need to start asking "why?" - or we'll end up in the same position again soon. The poison in the room MUST be addressed.

Well... any poison isn't just one ingredient...

Maybe PLD will be the balm for said poison...?

I am still trying to figure out who the poison really is... though I know some on this board think it's Po'Mo's nose stuck up Chef & Wheels behind...

from a talent standpoint its clear columbus won this trade. From a hockey perspective its close. Jets will save a ton of cap space not having to pay Laine 10 mill a year. Jets are now stacked at center position which is extremely important come playoff time. Laine also wanted out so its nice to get rid of that distraction similar to trouba. Laine also seems to be having more nagging potentially chronic injuries. I think this trade increases the Jets chances of competing for the stanley cup in the upcoming years but also makes the team less exiting to watch. When Laine was on top of his game he was box office. Franchise defining trade. Jets could end up winning the cup... Laine could end up winning the rocket richard. Anything can happen.

You're upset about someone else's money... ?

Come on Derf'... we have cap space and it's inconsequential to the Jets ownership it seems...

Be upset about not having Laine on our team... I know I am...

But it doesn't change the fact that is very true now and I didn't even want to believe it...

Laine didn't want to be here in Winnipeg.... :eviltongu
This has nothing to do with 'Winnipeg' and everything to do with Maurice.
