It’s a fair point, and again, not many exceptions to it. The only guys who managed to balance doing it, having access, and having success were Gallagher and Botchford. So it can be done. But the Canucks being a tough nut to crack is indeed a part of the challenge, but so to is the fact that we just don’t have a local reporter who’s up to that level at this time.

gallagher was so long ago i don't think he's really relevant. botchford was more recent but he had 100 times the access the current media enjoy. things really got buttoned up during covid and have gotten worse since

This is a good point, the rink reporters really have a fraction of the access they once had. The team has to take some of the blame for the quality of coverage due to their approach to media, and then you've had the spending cutbacks on local coverage to the point you're either given almost no access or you're basically an in-house reporter.

Definitely thought a trade would’ve happened already today, but certainly this weekend. (League, not canucks specific)

I honestly feel like we’ll be the next team involved in a trade.

You can’t possibly run a d core that consists of Forbort and Myers as the next man up on the first pair and expect to be a winning team. They probably had to tie an injured Hughes down to a chair because he knows this team isn’t shit without him on the bench let alone on the ice.

I think Pettersson and Hughes being injured greatly decreases the likelihood of a trade.

They are already in a low-leverage position seeking a trade. They aren’t going to force a trade from an even weaker position.

Hughes probably back sooner than later so idk about canucks trade first, but certainly Rutherford & Allvin aren't gun shy either ..

Sakic has jacked up the Avalanche cup chances huge in like twenty eight days, and surely not finished yet..

If nuke can stay in the lineup and they can ditch Girard look out for the next few years. Canucks will have to add more than a single significant piece to keep pace.

parssinen and tomasino are young but neither are very good. as bad as nashville are i don't think either are really a big loss. they have better forwards in their lineup

the carrier/barron swap is strange given the preds are playing like nick blankenburg and adam wilsby but i think barron still has a chance to be a decent player and i guess they really didn't like carrier

Nucks aren’t going to keep pace.

The defense is a train wreck.

That’s not fixable in short order u less they go large.

Even then, the team has been so inconsistent they are a bubble playoff team at best.

I’ll be pretty shocked if there isn’t a shake up in short order.

Team is way too reliant on 1 player (Hughes).

Miller looks cranky and disinterested out there.

Bottom 4 d are AHL quality.

Hoglander and Deharnais situations.

Something has to give.

I hope there is not a major trade. Everything impactful (e.g., basically any top-four defenseman, scoring wingers) is too expensive, and they are probably 3-4 pieces away anyway. I hope they hold the futures this year and ride it out. I'd also like to see whether Demko is just rusty or if the injury has permanently changed his game. The exception is if they can actually get a legit top-four defenseman who's 25 or younger that can actually anchor the second pairing. I'll be surprised if that's available outside of at an outrageous price.

They will still have an opportunity to go for it this coming summer with Hughes under contract, and some more roster flexibility.

Miller doesn't have that kind of value, also Cozens has started to turn it around. Who knows Canucks and Buffalo could hav the same record by the end of the season

Are we really at the point where even a major trade is going to shake the Canucks out of their season-long lethargy?

I'm afraid that there are so many holes--particularly on the back end--that's there's not likely a trade out there that's going to come close to addressing their needs.

I'm almost at the point where they should bring in Wilander in March; elevate a couple of kids like Elias Pettersson II or even Kudryavtsev, and roll the dice on the back-end.

I mean how can it possibly we worse than the spectacle we witnessed this afternoon?
