Lafrenière to the habs for Slafkovsky.

Both will be making similar money next year
Both were first overall picks
Montreal gets a French Canadian player.

Laffy could finally get more than a 1:23 a game on the PP. I’m sure he’s not happy about his PP time in NY, and could want a change of scenery, not sure why he doesn’t get much time on PP.

If small add needed, could be easily arranged with Habs prospect pool and/or player.

I think the Rangers should consider this seeing as there’s a lot of talk about Lafreniere being treated like a second-class player in New York and him wanting more responsibility elsewhere.

Not to mention, Alexis would love to play for his childhood team. Montreal has a lot of useful foundational pieces that might be of interest.

Kreider and Panarin aren't going to be Rangers for too much longer. He's going nowhere.

Well it’s good to be optimistic about these kinds of things.
How is that being optimistic? Panarin and Kreider aren't exactly young and there's no guarantee that they'll re-sign both of them. Even if they do they will probably not (not Kreider at least) be better than LAF at that point.

Edit: LAF just re-signed as well. If he felt that way he'd probably sign a shorter deal and/or ask for a trade instead of re-signing for 7 more years.

Laf is better at this point and suits the Rags needs for deep playoff runs.

This makes a lot of sense for both teams.
Lafreniere seems to have plateau’d, on pace for 25g 60pts but has more value in MTL.
Slaf is a couple years younger has already had a 20g 50pt season & likely has more upside.

Habs would also allow him to be moved to centre, as opposed to the wing.

He doesn’t get centre duty in NY, chance to go back to his natural position, and only 1:23 of PP time.

I see a thread with Lafreniere for JT Miller, wonder which one Ranger fans prefer.

I swear this is Sens fans upset that there was a Tkachuk to Rangers thread started, so they’re trying to effort to make up out of thin air that a guy who signed an extension a month ago is getting traded.

I feel like there's more to it than that. It is a 3 week old thread created by a Sens fan. Might be because some feel entitled to have him on their team.

I think I'd prefer to keep Slaf because he's such a physical beast, but in vaccuum, it's not the worst trade ever

LAF hasn't plateau IMO.

The Rangers have been atrocious for like 8-9 games in a 11 game span.

He also doesn't get to play on the first powerplay unit. If he'd played there he'd have at least 5-10 more points at least.

It’s hilarious. Laf had “plateaued” and yet Slaf is “super promising upward trajectory” with his 7 projected goals and 47 points.

Of course, it would be silly to ignore other factors and make a blanket statement that Slaf is “regressing” - and yet folks seem determine do to twist logic in one case and look past it in the other.

A simple “both sides seem to good with their guy” works pretty well here without resorting to logic twisting falsehoods applied selectively.

I've never said that Slaf is regressing though? Have I?

I'm just stating the facts about LAF.

Either way he's not getting moved.
