Doughty earned his contract. At the time he was elite. 2 Stanley cups. His contract is up next year. Why you guys always complaining? When I was a kid the Kings never won shit. They now have. You guys are not fans. Just a bunch of arm chair bitches talking shit. Be a fan or f*** off. So much negativity. It’s ridiculous.

Watch, just like at the deadline when everyone was fixated on potentially overpaying for Chychrun, Blake is gonna surprise us with a lower risk and worse trade. Think something like Vilardi + 2nd for Backlund + Vladar or something equally underwhelming.

I think you guys are being pretty pessimistic with how PLD would perform on this team. I feel like the second PLD plays with some sandpaper everyone here will gap their legs.

The Kings holes were exploited by the Oilers due in part to the Kings getting killed at the faceoff dot....in particular the Kings PK. PLD is bad at faceoffs. He has a worse career faceoff % than Vilardi. A trade for PLD is a trade for an expensive winger.

I will be extremely upset if we lose Vilardi. I think with the moves we have made so far we really just need to add some size/grit and a goalie. There's not much missing.
You trade Vilardi, because it looks like he does not want bridge deal.
He wants big contract and Kings are not ready to commit to him.

Three teams and three players to look out for: Zadorov, Forbort, and Lauzon.

Calgary/Nashville look to be blowing it up and Boston needs cap space. Would look good on the 3rd pair with Clarke/Spence.

I think a motivated PLD would be a great player.

I just don't see why the KINGS would be able to fix that after he's moped off every team going back to juniors and he's yelled from every mountaintop in the world that he wants to be in MTL.

Maybe this is the answer to your question for me--if we were getting a full-steam-ahead, full-buy-in PLD, I would potentially trade Byfield in that package. That's basically the proverbial Schenn-for-Richards style move.

But since he's a f***ing wildcard and a selfish prick on ice with an attitude as petulant as the NHL has ever seen, flip a coin.

He has minimal leverage though. The deals for Anderson and Durzi were last minute.

If Blake is work on moving someone like Arvidsson the worst thing he can do is sign Vilardi first because it would immediately make out cap situation much worse, so he loses trade leverage. The trades/deals need to happen in the right order to maximise the return. He needs to free up more cap space first IMO.

We need to move out a forward and then trade for 2 physical players (LD and 4th line forward), then sign Vilardi and we have a balanced roster with guys in the right roles. Job done.

Quinton Byfield - Anze Kopitar - Adrian Kempe
Kevin Fiala - Pierre Luc Dubois - Viktor Arvidsson
Arthur Kaliyev - Philip Danault - Ramus Kupari
Trevor Moore - Blake Lizotte - Alex Turcotte
*Carl Grundstrom, Jaret Anderson-Dolan

Our lines after the trade.

I like it.

If the Kings trade Vilardi and Iaffalo and re-sign PLD they still need to sign the following...

1. A Goalie.
2. A 3rd pair LHD.
3. A gritty 4th liner.

Someone run the cap numbers and remove Iaffalo and Vilardi and add in PLD for another 8-9 million and see how much is left?

13M if we move Iafallo in part of the deal.

Lets say he signs for 8M to make it easy.

5M left.

Clarke + Spence -1.6M
Kupari -1M

Soooo like 2.5M for a goalie and a 3rd pair LHD and bottom six grit guy? It'll be tough.

With how little cap space we'd have left after a PLD trade we actually might have to bring back a Kyle Clifford/Wayne Simmonds so I'm for it!

f*** it; hit up Ersberg too!

Hoping they obtain Dillon as part of the deal with salary retained.

Let’s say…

PLD
Dillon

For Vilardi, Iafallo, and let’s say Grundstrom or Lizotte then the Kings have about 15-16 million left.

Jets retain half Dillon and re-sign PLD for 8 million.

Leaves Kings with about 5-6 million for a goalie and enough to re-sign JAD, Kupari, Fagemo and McEwen.

Byfield-Kopitar-Kempe
Moore-Danault-Arvidsson
Fiala-PLD-Kayilev
Grundstrom-Kupari-Fagemo (shoots R) /McEwen (shoots R)
JAD

Doughty-Anderson
Gavrikov-Roy
Dillon-Spence or Clarke
Bjornfot

F. Anderson
Copley

I AM GOOD WITH THIS.

League minimum potential signings we could make:

Milan Lucic
Trevor Lewis

Nick Holden
Ryan Reaves
Brett Ritchie
Jack Johnson
Nathan Beaulieu
Wayne Simmonds
Thomas Greiss
Makenzie Blackwood

Targets if we make this PLD move.
