Vilardi + Iafallo + #2 MTL 2024 just acquired

PLD (extended) Dillon (50% retained) + #1 2023 18 OA.

18 OA in this draft will land a great prosepct...but the Jets wouldn't do this.
Vilardi is the best player in this deal (in 1-2 years) so make them pay some.
I don't see why the Kings would deal Gabe...unless there is a contract snafu.
Yannetti and staff will have to all hunker down within 8 hours round the clock until Wednesday,
if a deal like this was struck...and go back to working the 10 to 20 tier.

EDITED.

That’s a pretty poor return for Winnipeg.

If they are trading a 25 year old C with three 25G/60+ pt seasons and retaining on a defenseman it’s very unlikely they would also trade their first.

I'm starting to get really nervous about what the goaltending is gunna look like next year. This mystery tandem, if Copley is in it now with teams having NHL film on him, could be worse than Quick/Petersen last year. Cause there won't be much money left for a real starter.

hope it's not gabe that actually wants out

can't really blame him if he doesn't want to play ball with a low salary bridge or whatever

regardless i don't want PLD

I sort of understand it, if Byfield pans out you still get a 1c and a 2c. If he doesn’t it buys time to find another C. But it’s still a dumb trade to include Vilardi unless his contract asks are astronomical, which we haven’t heard about either way.

If the they can swing Dillion that’s great too but they’re still missing a goalie.

Please fire Blake before this trade gets pulled. Vilardi is nearly breaking out and he’s a modern day holmstrom with better hands. He’s a pavelski in front of the net with some of the nicest hand eye goals I’ve seen. Absolutely huge mistake to trade a very soon to be star. This can’t be right. Why the f*** would you trade your best and soon to be flourishing forward prospect?

What on earth are they thinking? The one f***ing guy who can create something out of nothing with his insane vision, coordination, and stick handling. Absolute mistake. No this is so f***ign stupid.

Please fire Blakeeeeee

Is there legit some injury concern with Vilardi or something that they don’t want to take a chance?

I can’t fathom why trade Vilardi. He’s by far the best forward in the rebuild. Easily by far.

Have you been living under a rock for the past 3 years?

Do you remember the amount of injuries he had before being called up to the Kings?

He has heart....something the team needs more of too.

Yanetti was on a few Kings podcasts recently - the Kings went hard after Freddie Anderson years ago.

He will be cheaper than Jarry and plays well in front of a good defense.
I think both will command at least 4M.

We're looking at the 2M max ballpark.

Cam Talbot, Semyon Varlamov, Thomas Greiss etc.

Honestly it’s so f***ing dumb they’re not trading Byfield but they’re trading the guy who has shown the most skill and raw ability? The guy with insane hockey IQ. We’re trading Vilardi but keeping the guy we hope can score more than 5 f***ing goals a season? What the f*** are they thinking?

If it’s Vilardi, we’d literally have one right hand shot who can score, and he’s likely gone within a year. I can’t be the only one concerned about this.
Don't worry. It will be mentioned in a media scrum, Blake will go all season not addressing this, then next offseason when we bring this up, sycophants will say NOBODY could have foreseen this was an issue, he'll overpay to address it, then he'll get a big pat on the back.

I don't know why you're worried about it.

Dillon is worth a 1st on his own. Don't get your hopes up about him being part of the deal.

Can you imagine doing a rebuild. You get all these center prospects as a part of your rebuild. And not one of them is a center on the team. In fact, you’re trading for centers. How does Blake survive that? This is legit a terrible GM who forfeited the rebuild. If it’s true, he’s trading his best forward by far.

How can Blake not be fired for this? He got the prospects. None of the are center. All of them are cost controlled. He’s trading for centers with a hefty price tag. How can anyone think this is good business?

Kings trade the one f***ing guy they drafted that’s actually panning out? Checks out 1000%.

f*** Blake gently with a chainsaw if this happens.

There's too much smoke at this point

I'm huffing the copium already
Or is it just the same original ’source‘ and just recycling of the same rumour and then attributing it to their own sources to cover themselves. It then just gives the impression it’s coming from various places (again)! None of it is categorical, thus protecting the ‘insider’ in question and their apparent inside track on thing…. If it’s right they take credit, if wrong the source was misinformed or there was a last minute unspecified issue. It’s click bait 101 and could easily be just that.

How many of our actual deals get done so publicly? The Petersen and Durzi trades pretty much caught everyone off guard.

Call me crazy but I think PLD has Tkachuk potential.

Both were 60 point 100 PIM guys until Tkachuk found that next level. Something I think PLD could also reach.

you're not crazy. PLD has great potential.

But why would the Kings be the one to bring it out of him? I'm wary of giving a guy a long term contract who has pouted his way out of every stop since juniors and gives 100% about 10% of the time while taking selfish boarding penalties every time someone breathes on him wrong.

We have no shortage of guys who will give us 50+ points. I don't like the downgrade on heart and effort, and what happens when you give a guy like that 6-8 years?

It's a huge f***ing gamble.
