Blake's drafting is getting shit on and I get it; however, there is some chicken/egg with bad drafting, bad development or both. Regardless, he deserves to be shit on.

That said, Brandt Clarke makes all of the Thomas Hickeys go away if he is a transcendent talent at the NHL level.
Brandt Flakes is the only one with that kind of rare NHL talent juju.

It is unreal the injuries, illnesses, this team has suffered. Don't forget Kupari blowing out his knee at the WJC's. Poor Clarke is probably praying for a trade with the string of luck our last half dozen first picks have had. Is it something our development staff is doing or just a freaky streak?

I just want to see Turcotte play a full set of games this year and see if he can get back on track. He is exactly the little snotty sparkplug our lineup needs.
Praying for 40+ AHL games for Turc this next season

If he can play nearly a full season (should also be in a position to handle big minutes in Ontario), he actually might still have a shot at an NHL career.

I know many are considering him a complete and total bust already (and I don't blame you at all at this point) but if he can stay mostly/fully healthy over this next year, then the Kings sign him to a 1 year 'prove it' deal..... Who knows, maybe he can end up being a Jarret Stoll type bottom sixer after all??

And before anyone quotes me telling me how crazy it is to suggest that... I already know lol

I like how a select few on here keep bringing up Eichel in an “I told you so“ fashion as though it‘s been universally agreed upon that the Kings should have traded for him. It’s like these people want to sound super smart, not realizing that we still don’t think they should have traded for him.

This is where we are under blake.

non-competitive 1st round exit
salary capped roster, strapped and having to make moves just to ice a lesser team than last year
depreciating assets, no prospects playing significant roles
3 goalies left in the org are Copley, Villalta, Portillo
Bereft of LHD prospects
Shipping out consecutive 1sts and 2nds
Now debating emptying the remainder of the cupboards for a low end 1C/high end 2C with one year control

Absolute trash, f***in burn it down at this point, the mere fact we are even discussing PLD as if he's going to ride to the rescue is a failure.
100% - f PLD. Blake cant bail the water out faster than its coming in. And Factor in you have EDM and VGK at their peaks, chasing the pipe dream of building around 11 and 8 one last time is complete comedy... only question is, who will they lose to in next seasons 1st around and how many games. Its even more galling when you see whats happening in the OC with the core they have and adding Fantilli... they have work to do, but that core is looking solid. The most likely outcome is Kings are the perennial 3rd place team for another 2 seasons and then begin a decline into total mediocrity... Only hope is a couple of 55, 13, 39, 92 become *super* stars.

Literally everyone here wants Byfield to breakout next year. You’re tilting at windmills, Quixote.
If given the choice between hoping/wanting Byfield to break out and trading him for an older player because they think he's a bust/disappointment, there are definitely people in the latter category. Not saying you.

But it's the same circular arguments and the offseason's young. We'll still see plenty of it going up to preseason and possibly beyond.

Yeah this is as close to openly rooting for a prospect's failure as I've ever seen this forum and that's saying something with our history

Yet it's many of the same people that were spitting absolute venom about Vilardi sooooo

And it's not so much about being right/wrong as it is being a total shitface to your fellow fans

Hellebuyck wants Vasi type numbers in 9.5? Welp that was a fun dream time to move on from that one.
Yup, if anyone is actually willing to sign him to that money...good luck finding a backup who can play enough where so Helle isn't tiring later in the season

It’s ok to be critical of Byfield. Most of that will forever be tied to Stutzle going one pick later. Funny thing is that neither we’re taking first.

Byfield becoming a center is also a key factor for me. He was drafted really as an heir apparent like it or not.

He has shown signs of progress. I still think he can become something special if he puts it all together.

He’s young and has had injuries others haven’t had to deal with in his top ten.

Next year he needs to be an offensive factor and key piece for LA to compete.

With Byfield it is not only, "does he make it", he needs to become a young star in the league. Hopefully hitting 80+Pts and becoming what he was projected.... our future 1C. As a #2 overall draft pick he will always have these types of expectations and pressure, some kids relish it, but some can't handle the pressure. Big year for him. Needs to increase his points production, be more assertive and show he can handle being on the top line, PP but also play some C during the season.
