Byfield - Kopitar - Kempe

Moore - Danault - Vilardi

Fiala - UFA - Kaliyev

Anderson-Dolan - Bjugstad - Kupari

Lucic - XXX

Anderson - Doughty

Gavrikov - Roy

Soucy - Clarke

Moverare

XXXXXX
Copley

That means I would move Arvidsson, Iafallo, Durzi, Lizott, that’s at least 3- 2nds and a 3rd
If they go that route.. and it’s $10 mill more of cap space to do hoodrat things
I also think Dumoulin would be a great pairing and mentor for Brandt

I bet Arvidson gets a first and a prospect if you pair him with Durzi

Also for the love of all things holy can we get rid of Lizzotte and get someone who can ride all the rides at Disneyland.

Not f***ing Lucic though. He can’t skate for shit.

Trent Fredric from Boston. Move Durzi and a pick/prospect for him. He solves size toughness and more 5v5 scoring.

Trade arvidson while his value is high.

Edit: might try to move Andersson to Boston in this. They need warm bodies and low cap

Would love Frederic but why would
Boston move him?

Less than 5 mil in cap space, they need 5 or 6 players to fill in their bottom 6, need another RHD on the cheap.

Send durzi, lias, Grundstrom/lizzotte, and picks Or prospects to get it done.

I doubt Kings bringing in another RHD with Spence, Clarke coming up and cap space issues. Could trade Durzi and switch him out with Spence. Only players i see being traded is Arvidsson, JAD, AI and Durzi.

The most worrisome part of the article is the plan to play Byfield at wing another full season and that Kopitar "loves to play with him". It's clear this organization has absolutely no intention of actually putting their young players into positions that are most important for their development and the team's long term future.
Maybe I missed the link or I don't see the post you responded to, but which article is that?

Byfield, Kopi, Kempe
Moore, Danault, Arvidsson
Fiala, Lizotte, Vilardi
Grundström, Kupari, JAD

Fagemo, Kaliyev, Iafallo

With Byfield moving to wing that means 3C needs to be improved before the playoffs & there's an extra wing with Kaliyev already on the fourth line.

Looks like 1 of Arvidsson, Moore, Iafallo going.

Kaliyev needs to play above the 4th line at some point.

Off chance King's could move out 2 of the 4 million players & bring in an upgrade at center or goal.

Kaliyev seemed like he came in with some jump at the beginning of last season before he got hurt. Would love to see him on the first line with Kopitar/Kempe. Seems natural to at least try. Would be equally weird to not at least give Fiala--Byfield--Vilardi a chance as a scoring line.

They could play Byfield at 2C and use Danault as a shutdown guy...just a thought, i think that would be significantly healthier for Byfield's development and more important for the future of the franchise. I don't think it would necessarily decrease their playoff run chances either if Byfield gets a hang of it after half a season or so. Putting him at wing just kicks the problem another year down the road, which has been the consistent M.O. of this mgmt group.

Vilardi had to be our leading scorer for a calendar month before they took him out of the bottom six.

I have little doubt this is just going to be another year of 'earn it' for players under 26 where TM quarantines them to the 4th line where they're not allowed to try shit without getting benched.

Hmm....Byfield......top...nevermind falls on deaf ears

I just don't see how they can offer JAD a new contract in this mess. He clearly isn't trusted even when he did have a little hot streak. He isn't going to get bigger or faster, his game will only evolve with experience - which he won't get here.

yeah, thankfully they are not completely delusional and also mention that the long term plan is Byfield at center. Why we waste him on wing is far beyond me anyways, since he has playmaking abilities not a goal scoring mind.

If the long term future is in play we have to use what we have anyways.

Kempe - Byfield - Kaliev
Fiala - Kupari - Vilardi
Fagemo - Danauld - Arvidson
Grundstrom - Kopitar - Moore

Anderson - Doughty
Gavrikov - Roy
Moverare - Durzi

Copley - Portillo

This team would make the playoff easily with our handicapped division.
Get some draft picks for Iafallo, Lizotte and Spence to replenish the cupboard.
With those guys and Kopitar gone, we have way more than we need to add a player after next season if we really need one.

Byfield at center slots players in better positions honestly

Kings should walk from JAD.

Trade Grundstrom and Durzi if space is still needed.

May need to move on from Iaffalo or Arvidsson still.
jad might just turn out to be one of those tweeners, didn't seem like he drove too much with the NHL squad. don't hate him but yeah, could probably stand to move on from him especially if turcotte's ever expected to make this team

still too many cooks like you say

The more I read/hear from John Hoven, the more I believe he is the perfect shill for the organization. In his chat on Sirius/XM, he spent a long time time defending the Petersen signing rather than acknowledging what a disaster the signing was for the team. No, Hoven, unproven goal tenders with little experience and no playoff wins are not signed for $5mm per year, that is not the going rate. And, having to eat part of Provorov's contract and giving up a prospect and a #2 pick are not things you want to do to get out from the mistake. And what is he smoking pegging JAD at $1.3 mm? Just because the guy is a teacher's pet does not mean he is getting more than Kupari who has already proven he can play solid D and kill penalties and who has much more upside. And, he seems to be in love with Iafallo and Moore while acknowledging they are redundant. When I read this, it makes me concerned as it indicates that Blake (who Hoven shills for) is in love with this roster. I have to agree with Johnny Utah after watching Florida manhandle more skilled teams, size does matter and our roster is not built for the playoffs. Hoven, like Blake, does not seem to recognize this.

Kings need to look at the following players for the 3rd pair LHD to play with either Durzi or Spence. Let's assume Clarke starts in the AHL...

Dillon
Logan Stanley
Nick Seeler
Nathan Beaulieu

I think a forward the Kings will look hard at especially if the Wild sign Reaves is Foligno. The Wild need scoring. I would also look at Reaves, Lucic and Kassian. Especially Reaves. I would love to see Byfield and Reaves together and he's cheaper than the other two.
A Seeler / Hart trade would transform this team into a true contender. And cost 4.8 mil against the cap. Best bang for the buck I can find.

It would cost a ton to get Hart but he has not even reached goalie prime and is wicked good.

The Defence is transformed with Gavrikov, Seeler and Clarke.

Goaltending is set with Hart and Copley.

Our forwards, as much as we bitch about them have a lot of talent in the top 6. If Byfield takes that next step, and I believe he will and solidifies that 3c role this year we are looking good.

Right now we have 7.3 mil to spend and are short a Dman, a forward and a goalie and a few spare players.

Ship Durzi out and his contract actually covers the majority of both Clarke and Seeler’s contracts leaving us 7.2 mil to sign a goalie, Vilardi and Kupari and another spare. Or defensive spares are either Spence or Moverare at approximately $800, 000 leaving us 6.5 to play with.

This is why I really like the Hart idea. He makes 4 million a year and is RFA after this year, when we have a little more money.

Philly will want to lot for Hart as they should. I love Vilardi to death but do we treat him, Durzi, and possibly something else in a package for Hart and Seeler? It would leave us with approximately 2.5 million to play with.

I would rather keep Vilardi and trade if one of the redundants like Moore or Iafallo but I doubt their trade value is high. I don’t want to trade off next year‘s first round pick. The only other thing I can think of is trading off Arvidsson and Durzi in a three team trade Philadelphia once again but if those are the names, then we kiss our first goodbye.

Sorry for such the long tangent. I really grew to like Seeler the last couple years. I see that he was on your names of defenseman you would like to get and I agree I would just like to extend the trade and grab one of the best young goalies in the game. It would be a game changer for this franchise.

Byfield at center doesn't fix the 3C in the playoffs problem as he is unlikely to be able to defend other teams top lines on the road.

99 games into his NHL career, a low stress position on Kopi's wing is about the best place for him. Focus on his offensive zone skills, pick up info from Kopi & learn the wing position so when he moves to center Byfield has a better understanding of the forward positions.

I've always liked this idea and think especially with a potential line of Fiala-Byfield-Vilardi.... That really should be our 2nd line next season ideally.

Then, as you say., the Danault line can play more of a pure shutdown role.

Conceptually I love it but I think its one of those things that may not work as well in practice. If the Danault line is our shutdown line... They're going to get a lotttttttt of ice time. Lots of d zone starts, lots of matching up with top players on the opposing team. They'll play a ton. So mainly just in terms of ice time, not sure if it really works unfortunately.

Also, I know the Mayor's article posted recently had Byfield slotted at 1st line LW.... I wouldn't really put too much weight on that. The Kings really need Byfield to be a center, and they know that. He'll almost certainly start the year down the middle.
