Thomas posted a pic on his IG and he's pretty jacked. If he played with an edge he could beat out someone.

Not many forward spots left - the two question spots are 2nd line RW with Fiala-PLD-? and the 4th line RW - Grundstrom-Lizotte-?.

I assume Thomas, Fagemo, JAD will all be battling Lewis and Kayilev for those spots.

I don't think Lewis will be battling for anything.

He has a spot locked up.

I think we can all mostly agree on the question marks of this team. Goaltending, 3rd pairing LD, potentially the 4th line and overall team toughness. In addition, a tough salary cap situation limiting us to a roster of potentially 21 which will be a tough pill to swallow if ultimately costs us a Fagemo, Bjornfot, JAD, Madden, or Thomas.

With all of that said, we have three really strong lines and a top 4 D. that should be great as well. Much easier to deal with 3rd pairing D and 4th line concerns Also, the goaltending situation isn't as terrible as some make it seem. Copley played average and held it down. Talbot is coming off a down year but was very solid before that. Rittich is a good #3 option. Hopefully Portillo develops and turns out to be above average sooner than later.

Moreover, as we know the team can be improved between now and the trade deadline. Our draft picks next year are already depleted (we do have a 1st for now) for the most part but we have each one after that.

Hopefully PK coaching and performance will be a focus, similar to how PP was last offseason.

One more question from me that's also cap related..if we do end up attempting to send a player down (say Fagemo) and he gets claimed, do we automatically lose him or we can pull him back? Can we trade him instead even if a claim is submitted? Can't recall how that process exactly works for the NHL.

Dude had great muscle tone even before his injury. Hoping he can be healthy.

I think it’s safe to assume Grundstrom is playing for Kings career.. if Fagemo and JAD show out then you’ll probably see Tonka shipped out.

The 4th line was terrible during the playoffs - will a 4th line of Grunstrom-Lizotte-Lewis/Fagemo be any different?

It needs a major overhaul. Adding a player like Comtois would give a different dynamic.

The Lewis signing baffles me - Kings could have added someone like Comtois who actually plays with an edge and is way younger.

Imagine Fiala-PLD-Comtois or you can rotate Comtois with Kayilev on the 4th line and Fagemo is the scratch.

Now Lewis takes up a spot for no reason.
I like Comtois too.
The 4th line and goaltending are under construction.
No funding for completion until closer to the deadline /

Has anyone from Kings management talked about why Korpisalo wasn't brought back? I'm guessing the only reason could be his playoff performance because if it was his performance prior to the playoffs then obviously Copley would've gotten more action. If it was due to cap concerns then they clearly thought they needed another center over goaltending and that Copley along with a cheap retread would suffice.

I haven't been a huge critic of Blake's and that's partially because I lost interest when the Kings were abysmal a few years ago. But it's clear to me at this point that he doesn't have a plan and is very reactionary. Lombardi was very methodical in his approach and while it took a fair amount of luck to achieve the success he had, there was a clear vision in place that was well thought out. It was layered with contingencies, and he really only lost his way once he tasted success and chased the dragon.
When PLD, became a possibility for long term, Blake put that as the highest priority.
Damn the torpedoes.
It could work but injury to any Key players that are not going on LTIR for high value could trigger problems due to increased lack of depth.

I'm conflicted because I want Bjornfot to be our regular #6 guy but that would likely mean Englund (Our only physical presence on the team) would be out the line-up.

It's actually shocking to me that Lemieux and that dude from San Jose hasn't been signed yet.
Keep Englund and Bjornfot as the 3rd pairing

When I've seen Comtois play it's always with an edge...It would have been good to add him for sure

If Lemieux could play like he did for us in 21-22, I'd bring him back in a heartbeat.

But he's kind of a quitter. He won't give consistent effort. His game will always flatline eventually. There's a reason why he's searching for his 5th team.
The refs cant get his reputation out of their mouths and they always spit soft penalties at him

Blake signed Englund to a poison pill contract, it has the extra year and pays him a million to play in the AHL both years or move in between leagues. Makes it much less likely a team will take a shot at him on waivers with the extra season and extra $$$ for the AHL. It's time for Toby and step up and take the job full-time, although he doesn't seem to be a TMac favorite. Englund is neck and neck with Moverare on the depth chart.

Well if you plotted his effectiveness at each stop on his 4 team journey it would look like someone going into cardiac arrest.. it would be shocking if he could maintain a decent level of play if he gets another shot.

Not even a box score or standings? Damn. Not that you need a daily paper for that anymore.

The Kings are just on average a minor league team in LA. Most hockey teams are most cities, and certainly nationally.

At some point there should be some sort of reckoning within the Kings org that they're going to actually have to self-promote a bit.

The LA sportsscape isn't going to automatically give a shit, especially with the evaporation of the LAT and no network agreements. All the 'free' coverage is gone/being turned away.

What a f***ing failure Luc is. What does this guy even do?
