This is exactly the shit I was talking about earlier today @Fishhead @Herby

As for hometown discounts, players should get their money and not be expected to take less. That being said and in the case of this deal:

- Why do it now? Do they expect Kopitar to take things up a notch this year so he'll cost even more if they wait to sign him?
- Bitching about $1MM is a pretty big deal when you look at this team's current goaltending situation and the genius plan to not roster a full lineup.

I've always known he'd have a contract here if he wanted it. Doing it now for an older player when you have an entire Age 36 season ahead of you is pretty ridiculous.

I love the guy and I'm not trying to flex when I say I've been a STH'er since '01 and have probably watched him play in person more than anyone here. Having seats for that long only proves that I'm stupid. He's brought me so much joy so I'm not mad at him or anything but, f*** man, this team has pretty much given us nothing to cheer for except for silver stick and retirement ceremonies for Brownie and Dewy ad Kopi for nine season now and this feels like more of the same shit: continuing to pay for 2012 and 2014.

And they are still too soft.
This is where I’m at. I don’t think the Kings owe Kopitar anything. He’s gotten paid and he’s got all the red bows and sweet nothings his entire time as a King. I love the guy but he can f*** off. Kopitar doesn’t NEED to sign here again so I’m not mad at him not asking for cheap. I’m more upset with Blake that we’re going back to the well with Kopitar.

And personally I don’t care that much if Kopitar retired on another team. I’ve always been a Kings fan first and not a player fan.

If Kopitar getting flown out was on the table during the rebuild I would have drove him myself.

I predict something is going to happen with Bjornfot. Spends the year in the AHL then the Kings sign Englund.

Either it becomes an issue re-signing him, he/his agent ask for a trade, or the Kings deal him or lose him on waivers this year.
I was surprised he has not been moved out. I believe he is out of waivers, could see him being lost for nothing at this point.

I guess we should all see it coming when Pat Brisson is the next GM with Bergevin as his cabin boy

Where's the nearest French restaurant to Manhattan Beach, i bet it's a francophone "Godfather" in the back room

It will be interesting to see who the camp invites will be come September. They've had the likes of Laich, Prust, Bissonnette, all in the past attend camp as invites, so it's a possibility one of those guys Johnny Utah listed could be extended an invitation.

The 4th line was terrible during the playoffs - will a 4th line of Grunstrom-Lizotte-Lewis/Fagemo be any different?

It needs a major overhaul. Adding a player like Comtois would give a different dynamic.

The Lewis signing baffles me - Kings could have added someone like Comtois who actually plays with an edge and is way younger.

Imagine Fiala-PLD-Comtois or you can rotate Comtois with Kayilev on the 4th line and Fagemo is the scratch.

Now Lewis takes up a spot for no reason.

Comtois, Lemieux and Kassian still out there.

I would rather take a Comtois-Lizotte-Grundstrom line against Edmonton anyday...
We kind of need a right shot though.

The Kings are woke. They won't sign a guy like Comtois even if he's innocent.

Kassian isn't an NHL caliber player anymore. Lemieux is great in short stints, but there's a reason nobody wants him.

i think the reason for Lewis is to help offset some of the defensive loss on the wing with Iafallo gone. not saying I would do it, but I think that is what the thought was?

Kassian a right now - why not give him a two way deal?

Like I mentioned earlier, most NHL players don't mind a two way deal in LA because you get to live and practice in the South Bay and just have to take the bus to Ontario 30+ times a year.

Every team needs a few criminals.

Björnfot needs to fire his agent. I got you a one way deal guaranteed for 2 years!!!!

If you get waived this year another team will be grabbing you. Ducks & Sharks at the top of the list just to spite the King's.

King's had 1M they spent on englund to fit under the cap. It's just adding & subtracting & your agent missed the target by 30%

Good job Blake.

Edit: below the qualifying offer? 😂
