Vilardi is good but probably unable to stick at center. Iafallo is a decent middle six wing plagued by the fact the Kings have an excess of middle six wingers and Kupari is a dime a dozen depth player. Despite that, I think the Kings management (Luc, Blake) is hopelessly strategically lost.

It's dumb logic but I see it. How do you simultaneously go for it while in the last years of Kopitar's contract, all the while still have young pieces to build around or trade after? Just overpay for young players using all of our assets.

I'm just waiting until we get first round exit again and Blake gets fired/Mac moves on

Are there any non-Kings/non-Jets fans who like this trade for the Kings?
Nop. Habs fans rejoicing right now that we have not went all-in. PLD is a really good player, but not for that kind-of return. Specially when the player wanted out. Paying full value is not a sexy move.

But we dont know the contract yet. If he signs for 7M$/yearly its good. If he's at 9M$ like rumored thats f***in bad.

We’re getting properly f***ed in this trade..
Vilardi, Kupari and Iafallo FFS, I don’t like this trade for the Kings.
I wonder what some of you f***tards are going to say when those guys we trade get put in good positions and out produce PLD??
Gabe is likely going to be top 6 and hit both the 30g and 60p mark.. like PLD
Kupari will probably get close to 15TOI and have a breakout
Iafallo will be Iafallo

So shipping out 100+ points for a guy that’s been a quitter his whole career?

Even though your argument was about PP time I would argue that he put him in a position to fail so it was all for not. Might as well not give him PP time if you’re going to be grossly negligent on how you use the guy who’s entire career was based upon roofing the puck a few feel below the blueline.

That's a different argument that wasn't stated. Kovalchuk'd was in part defined as not getting PP time.

Should DuBois be here, he's going to play a lot.

Just a friendly reminder that we spend 8.2M of our cap on two 3rd line defensive LW'ers.

Blake really had a brain fart signing those 2,Jesus Cristos

So yah, for those of you B****** and moaning and calling Quinton Byfield said the same thing prior to Vilardi having his breakout season this year...

Patience is a virtue
You linked to the 17th page of a 70 page thread and, after browsing about 10 pages, I saw one person saying they should move him because of his back injury and everyone else saying no. Do you have some examples of people saying the "same thing" as they are now about Byfield?

It seems bad right now. But a lot will depend on the PLD contract, what pieces (if any) we get back and what additional moves it all enables Blake to do. If this is it, then it's bad. But if this is part of a plan that includes a few other adjustments/moves/etc. -- then i'll wait to see those before I get my pitchfork and burn the place down.

Getting some vibes that maybe Gabe wants the big money now. I don't think he'll pull an Anderson type of deal (1 year bridge), he probably wants his 4-5 million per.

The timing of the deal is strange too, when all we needed was a big 3C and a Goalie. Never thought a 2nd line center was the priority.

King's had too many wings. Now they can bump Lizotte down to the 4C. Overall team is stronger today despite losing some talent.

Really bummed that my favorite player since the moment he was drafted (Gabe) who finally was given a chance and indeed blossomed is gonna be traded. Each time he was on the ice he was a difference maker and you could see he was one of the best players on the ice. At least we had game 3 -- what an OT assist play that was to Moore.
