My opinion on this is this means they’ve given up hope of Turcotte ever being anything and still need a future 1c or 2c. Even if Byfield turns into a 80-90 point center they’ll have a glaring hole at 2c in 2-3 years.

If Byfield pans out this gives them a good 1c and 2c, if he doesn’t it gives you some time to try and find one so you aren’t left with a retired Kopitar and then a mid 30s Danault as your 1c.

There's hopium in that Brandt Clarke comes in at 200 lbs and ready to take PP2 spot Durzi had.
And actually step in and make a big impact. He knows the level of play, how strong he has to be and I expect him to have a good Summer. Hopium that QB comes in at 226 lbs and is prepared to take his game to the next level. Players like Kupari and Kaliyev raise their games and bust out of any mold that Todd has for them. They should have an attitude that they can become more and do it.

This hopium is more in the youth, helping the team to the next level....as the core cannot really
elevate any higher. Possibly Fiala, being healthy a full season and playing with *PLD, instead of
Lizotte, will be HUGE.

As much as I may dislike a trade, not like the guy we acquire, want the guy we trade to stay a king, etc — as soon as the guy we get becomes a king, he’s my guy. There have been many bad trades for several decades for me. Many bad guys or guys I can’t stand who’ve become a King. They become my guy and my full support once they put on the kings jersey (until they are gone).

If he were a free agent signing, sure. The cost/benefit ratio drop-off seems so easy to predict here.

He will get to play with Fiala for certain, they will put up a lot of very exciting goals together. We will cheer for him.

First round exit again because they lack heart and lose nearly every battle.
 
If the Kings trade and sign PLD for 7+ aav, then this is supposed to be the go for it year due to all the free agents they have next off season. I'm a get in and anything can happen kind of fan, but I seem them struggling to get in with how they will have to fill out the roster, both this year and the future, if this goes through.

Just like last summer Bleak pursues a top 6 fwd while he's leaking gallons of fuel out of LD and goalie... plows into regular season with no answers there.. And a year later still dont have a 3LD and goalie even bigger question mark than last season. So where is the cap to address it?

Last season made sense because the trade didn't take away from the current team. This rumor sets the actual team back besides being costly.

Hey Axl, what do you think about Blake selling the forwards? What do you think it says about his drafting that none of the centers drafted during the rebuild are playing center?

On another note it’s so damn crazy to me how quickly Flake gave up on the prospects. It says A LOT about how they view players like Byfield and Vilardi who are natural centers that are only playing wing. And this comes to the point that they are actually acquiring centers because they have no faith in Vilardi and Byfield. If Blake had 70 percent faith in Byfield then the Kings wouldn’t be trading for PLD. And it even suggests that the Kings are going to play Byfield on wing AGAIN. I’m so tired of this shit. We got centers let them f***ing play their position. Is byfield that f***ing bad that we need to move Vilardi to fill center?
 
I know people know how I feel about Byfield. But even though I think he sucks shouldn’t they give him a year at center with Top 6 minutes before trading players like Vilardi away to fill a need internally and cheaper rather than externally.

It’s so f***ing frustrating that these players aren’t allowed to fail it seems.

I'm just trying to figure Blakes endgame.Is he just going to go all in like DL did and trade all the assets for a maxed out cap and another cup run that isn't there.

I think that’s obvious at this point, yeah.

This is the only thing Blake and Luc ever wanted to do with this team. Run it back with Kopitar and Doughty. They have no other plan.

Im fine w Fiala deal if he figured out something other than Durzi at 2LD, Edler at 3LD and Cal/JQ in goal...We all knew Cal was a dumpster fire.. and JQ on his last year of 10 yr deal was not going to be the starter..they actually got a lot of mileage out of JQ 10yr contract and fading his last season is expected. So do the big deals but dont leave your roster with gaping holes.

We heard zilch about Fiala until it was done. That’s usually the way things go. I think WPG and LA had a deal worked out but couldn’t agree on a contract for PLD.

Eh. Seems like big trades end up like this. A lot of moving parts in this trade from the variety of sources.
 
Eliotte Friedman seems to be accurate most of the time.. havent seen anything there other than a retweet of someone else discussing the deal
