In short, yes, the defensive shortcomings ARE that bad.

When he's playing with Danault and Moore, they're doing great. He's about a 10% corsi and GF drag on everyone else, though. And for a team that's constantly hovering about 50% GF/GA at even strength, these numbers are really, REALLY problematic. It's not hyperbole, and that's why I keep resisting it so much.

It's funny because when those were Byfields numbers you were on a tear shredding him...why is AA so special?

Well, not that I fully agree with it, but the main difference between AA and QB is that AA produces more right now while having similar drag on CF and GF. He has a P/60 of 1.92 at even strength while QB has a 1.11. AA has a -4.86 CF% Rel, while QB has a -4.58. As for GF, AA has a -3.13 GF% Rel, while QB has a -11.13.

Frolov wasn't full Frolov until 23-24 though, and those clips are from when he was 26+....I''m confident Vilardi will get there too, you can see the Perry/Frolov in his game around the net! He's due a couple of goals at this point imo.
Eh, hard to say.

Frolov scored 24 goals as a 21 year old; which would be 2nd on the current Kings team.

I just think we bash on Frolov for having stretches of being invisible but in reality he was a damn good 1st liner for many years for us. He was also pretty darn good in his own end too having a career +27 while playing for some of the worst Kings teams we've iced.

Have we fallen so far that we're pining for Frolov?
Don't hate, APPRECIATE!

Frolov was awesome!

Ah yeah, class act for social media representatives of the organization--block people who disagree with you then smear them on your podcast.

That's what you choose to cheer for. Nice.

These guys become more of a clown show by the day.
Smearing them? Those twitter followers put themselves out there on a public forum commentimg on their twitter accounts.I know you dislike like DB and the Mayor but this is just rich. The clown show can be seen from many platforms and make believe GM and coaches on social media.Spend enough time on here and you can see plenty of bad takes and questionable insights.BTW many podcast/shows read off twitter handles when reading questions and statements on their shows.

If I'm running a large, visible organization like the LA Kings/AEG, I would be more than a little annoyed that some fans that I gave a platform are using that platform to insult and attack my paying customers simply because some anonymous people on the Internet were mean to them. I'd stop sponsoring their ego trip that's borne out of nothing but opportunity; it's certainly not borne out of qualifications and absolutely not professionalism or tact, at least not anymore.

Most other professionals can handle it. But then again, I guess the word 'professional' is flattering.

It’s all about production. The Kings need more goals in the lineup, how do you resist putting your 3rd best goal-scoring forward on a per game basis into the lineup to keep in multiple offensive black holes. You see this stuff, you comment agreeing with the lack of finish in GDT’s then you want to keep the status quo and lose every game 3-2.

So you say he produced a 40+ goal pace with Danault and Moore , ok great can we get that line back together? We have people calling for Vilardi and Anderssen to be out back together based on meaningless preseason games but NHL games mean nothing? How about putting those 3 together and seeing if they can get get back to that pace? Arvidsson can either move up with Kopitar and Kempe and form what is actually a passable first line or if TM insists on this Iafallo disaster to continue he can put VA on the third line and hope that he can spark Byfield and whoever the other winger will be. As of now we are getting nothing but fancy advanced stats and “offense is so close to happening” stuff for the past dozen games about the third line and way below what is needed from a first line because Todd has our one difference maker wing playing with a center who is going on 35 and another winger playing like he’s going on 45, all of this as we lose a bunch of games 3-2.

I just don’t know how fans can not want to insert someone who has been able to score at a first line pace through a quarter of a season and how the coaching staff is so unwilling to make any kind of line restructuring through any of this.

The only glimmer of hope is that Todd did move Iafallo to the third line the last time the forward group was fully healthy. Unfortunately Arvidsson and AA got injured and Iafallo was able to recover his large role. Maybe if we get fully healthy again Todd will consider that move again. I’ve given up on a scratch ever happening, Todd is more loyal to vets than even Sutrer was.

They are fans who got found a way to monetize covering the Kings, good for them, the Kings were the worst covered big 4 team of any market I lived in, so props to them for filling that need.

But these guys have both made some pretty awful takes over the years, as bad or worse than the ones they highlighted in their podcast, its amazing that neither guy realizes that before they try and embarrass people.

And agreed, shame on the Kings for promoting crap like this.

Hey, if Todd would do such a thing (ie roll out Arvidsson-Kopitar-Kempe or Arvidsson-Byfield-Kupari with AA-Danault-Moore) I could at least see the argument for it. or if he were to shake up the lines altogether. But he hasn't indicated at all that he knows how to handle an offensive specialist.

It's not that I don't want to insert a scorer--it's just pointless when you're giving up 3 high danger chances for every 1 and giving up 3 goals for every 2 scored. It should tell you something that the guy is scoring at such a great pace but without Danault as a safety blanket he's still getting rocked as if he's barely an NHLer. Sure, we're not getting scoring out of the 3rd line--but we aren't getting high event high volatility pond hockey either. AA is the kind of guy who will literally lose you a playoff game by himself if you don't use him properly. That's all I'm trying to illustrate--well, that, and Todd won't use him properly. For all intents and purposes, he's a reskinned Kovalchuk.

Yeah, that's exactly it--got in on a niche before it got big and happened to be in the right place at the right time. I'm not hating on that in and of itself, that's great for them and I appreciated the coverage once upon a time. But their egos have outgrown their utility and now they're acting like the smartest fans in the room at any given time.

I actually think Hoven is a very good podcast host--affable, gets along with guests, asks good questions--but Bernstein is insufferable both on and off the podcast and unfortunately Hoven gets caught up with the same attitude elsewhere now as well. The overconfidence is contagious.

I was blocked because I responded to a tweet with a quote of him saying the exact opposite in the past. It started a bunch of people posting the Mayer’s flip flopping.

I wasn’t trying to attack him. I just found it to be funny.

“Paul Ladue is playing in the top 4. Paul Ladue is a top 4 defenseman.”

What doesn't work is AA-Byfield.
Oil-vinegar.
At least, it was Oil-Vinegar when Brown was the third member of the line.
Kopitar/Danault are good enough to make up for AA's two-way shortcomings.

Byfield's trying to keep his head above water. You can't ask him to do that with AA (not good defensively) and Brown (too f***ing slow and useless everywhere but in front of the net).

I just took issue with the idea that AA should be in the AHL.
With even a shred of luck, AA is gone this summer to finally find his spot in the show.

Won’t hold my breath, but I hope he is someone else’s problem after this summer.

Hoven and Bernstein are incredibly thin skinned and completely childish if anybody disagrees with their takes.

But if I ran the Kings/AEG I’d be fine with what they do because sadly you take away Mayors Manor and the 4th Period you have like 3 news “organizations” that actually cover the dang team.

Dillman at the Athletic but no idea how often she actually pays attention anymore.

Does the LA Times even have a dedicated reporter anymore to the Kings?

All The Kings Men, I enjoy and Jessie is accessible and respectful.

Hockey Royalty

And the franchise mouthpiece in Dooley at Insider.

So they might be childish but if you can get people to pay attention or have interest in your product through them, you take it. Doubt they’re making fans stop being fans. They just need to act professional and not like their seniors picking on incoming freshmen.
