Are you sure this is the right Byfield talking about the same coach Tmac, saying if he makes a mistake he knows he's going right back out there? I mean f***....all we've been told is how Tmac benches kids for making mistakes.......yet.....someone who actually knows something about the situation is saying otherwise....hmmmmmmmm
3 years after the fact. He couldve been up with Kopitar from the beginning. Plenty on here were calling for it.

LMAO....yea...absolutely, should have been able to play on a broken f***ing ankle.....

EDIT: Not to mention the whole point of that post wasn't about Byfield...but looks like you missed that too

Either way you slice it Moverare is a risk to be claimed on waivers.
He also has not really earned a call up mostly because of a whopping 29 penalty minutes in Ontario, 1 goal and 8 assists, -1 in 27 games.
Therefore I think he is stuck in Ontario for the year, unless injuries on D.

At forward we have 4 forwards out, and we don't look as powerful.
This illustrates why Blake is smart to hold as many assets as possible and be cafeful with signings, plan A, and other acquisitions plan B.
Yeah some moves will have to be made, I would loathe to give up any toughness in Lemieux (and Roy) but he is North Americas most easily penalized player.
I would try to sign someone like MacDermid etc. instead in the off season.
Turcotte is likely in the AHL next year and QB can go if Blake needs to try to wheel and deal and make space early season.
Obviously doing that in the summer would be better.
Trades will depend on what you are getting back but my list of guys I want to trade in order are:
1. Lem or dont resign
2. Edler - same
3. Grundstrom
4. Lizzo
5.Fagemo
6. Kopitar if we are not going to playoffs and he wants to waive NMC(unlikely, I know)

The subject of the Goalies and pipeline has been beat to death recently, and for good reason.

People are always having a climate change panic like conniption, demanding unwise and unnecessary moves. Blake and whoever is his capoligist always find their way.
The only really bad signing being Cal and his spiral in form.
I blame Cal and the goaltender coaches not Blake.

To piggy back your idea on the trade list/don't resign list
1. Lizzote
2. Lemieux
3. Walker
4. Edler
5. Iafallo

Id love to see our lines something around this

Buffalo Prospects Ryan Johnson LD Minnesota Gophers (Craig Johnsons son) and Michigan Wolverine G Erik Portillo Could both test free agency if not signed by the sabres by aug 2023. Keep an eye on these 2. Similar situation to how we got Cal perterson.

Portillo I beleive has already stated he is going UFA. I would think it would be in the best interest of the Kings to pursue possibly both of them and exchange prospects and maybe some picks to give both teams a refresher on positions of need.

He’s also implying that is what wasn’t happening. He now knows a mistake won’t get him benched, whereas it previously did.

Now knows, or always has known? Kids coming up to play in the NHL....regardless of for who, where, how long, role, are ALWAYS gonna be scared shitless to make a mistake......in that interview it was never once intimidated that NOW he knows he won't be benched......though I will watch it again to be sure

It was not all about Byfield. It was a bit about feeling less pressure on mistakes leading to being benched which is a fair criticism sometimes of TMac. However it was also about it being clear that QB’s lack of offensive output was in part due to focusing on his defensive game, board play etc. That has all improved and that is a good thing. I felt it highlighted one thing they did well, in terms of his development as a player and something they did poorly by suppression his freedom to feel confident enough to make plays.

But he would miss shifts and have ice time reduced, as have most of the kids whereas more senior players were held to different standards. I get they get a bit more rope but sometimes no matter how badly they shit the bed they played and got prime pp time.

Granted I don’t think he was trying to make those points in the interview. It’s very much what I read into it, but as I said I took both a positive and a negative from it. I don’t actually have an axe to grind.

How do you get suppressed his freedom to feel confident to make plays from......we want you to be defensively solid/responsible etc....

He said something about feeling more confident to make plays… then mentioned the minutes. I forget the exact quote but that was my interpretation of the context but I think we are seeing that in his play. I also said a couple of weeks back that when he feels trusted (they need to make him feel that way even if it’s not true) he will start showing offensively… low and behold.

Actually I want Lemieux gone because the ref have him on double secret probation but a semi deterrent player or better will have to be signed to take his place or he will have to be resigned.
Walker is the guy Blake needs to move to open up a slot for Spence. And the way he is being deployed leads me to believe they are trying hard. Dorian is playing hard ball so Blake will wait and see what else develops before the TDL.
Edler retires, and Bjornfot and Moverare move up unless Blake gets another LHD.
Even though he is trying he may not. He won't overpay.
So Blake probably makes a lower level than expected move or two at the TDL or even nothing at all.
Especially if Durzi can keep making less mistakes.
The goal tending and need to replace Lemieux have encroached on the longstanding need for a LHD this season.
Blake is not a trade deadline guy, like Lombardi.
So it may wait all or partially until the offseason.

Lets not act like Lemieux has not deserved his reputation with officials.

I hope Blake does not wait till the offseason, but if he does than i am going to assume prices were too high this trade deadline.

Doing it wrong, if Blake doesn't do anything this TDL, it doesn't mean prices were too high, it means he's a flipping moron who is in out of his depth, has no idea how to build a team, is content with doing nothing while everything around him burns.....

Fixed it for ya, you can thank me later....lol

haha, part of me feels this as well.
I worry about Blake being too passive. Fortune favors the bold and I am not sure he can take the swings needed to knock a deal out of the park. Fiala deal gives me hope, but that was not removing a roster player, not sure if that is his hesitation, or if it is the market.

Probably a bit of both.....I can tell you one thing though......if Blake does not make a move at TDL.....my dog is safe.....I don't think most people on this board can say the same thing, end of TDL and LA makes a minor move, half of the people on this board will be kicking their dogs.....all pisssed off

I think bold needs to happen when we have a legitimate shot. Right now the moves need to be deliberate and strategic. For example If the guy they want isn’t available until the offseason then they need to wait rather than get just anybody. Certainly no rentals. They have to plan so that any moves now fit into a targeted window for contention. Getting to the second round will be a great season.

Please please please be Portillo... i ask since years for this guy
