Kings defense has held up since Mikey went down. I don't see that as the problem right now. Their scoring depth has been blown apart and it's showing.
I am thinking the same. McDavid is going to find a way to get on the board, but they have held up decently. It is usually always a mistake sooner or later by a scapegoat like Durzi, Edler, Walker, etc and everyone piles on there. Sure, them being on the roster is one argument, but they've kept the games very low scoring enough to be winnable.

The Oilers are better but still not great defensively. Skinner isn't unbeatable, he rarely saw anything that didn't just go right into his chest. They lack the creativity, for the most part, to go around the Oilers individually and they aren't playing smartly together as a unit to generate offense.

They are allowing the Oilers to bump and rattle them off the puck and they are making dumb passes and decisions that lead to turnovers. They could barely pass it out of their own end half the time. Yeah, we are heavily missing the likes of Fiala and Vilardi, but they should be far more capable regardless with moving the puck.

Actually it won't. They have to wait till his final year on the contract to buy him out. Another option and far less likely, is they trade him for another bad contract(preferably a non-goalie).
Buying him out next offseason will be the final year of his contract.

Cap hit will be 1M and 2M for 2 more years if they buy out next offseason.

Who's that?
Edit: oh, i think you mean Clarke -- lol. Gotcha. Good one. Yeah, in our dreams only.
well, it's 2-2 with Hamilton. Barrie could lose round 1.
the Kings offense has gone 3000 leagues into the bottom of the ocean since, that 8-2 win vs Calgary I think it was....so liong ago, think it was the 8-2 win vs them. Kempe and Arvidsson both 2 goal games.

Losing Fiala and Vilardi is so detrimental and need an offensive catalyst. Clarke could be a factor.
But doubt Tmac would give him a legit role.

Agreed. But "doubt"? -- you are much more optimistic than me regarding the idea of TM giving Clarke an opportunity and legit role. I'd be absolutely floored / shocked.

Jordan Spence emergency recalled. I hope he gets to play. I would play him over Bjornfot, Walker or even Durzi.

ive been steadfast in my support of Spence....think hes better than Durzi now. Not the offensive upside but certainly far better defensively. I like Durzi- just think we are kidding ourselves he is ever going to be anything competent defensively. Michael Del Zotto playing in the AHL these days comes to mind. There is a league minimum needed and not sure he meets that threshold.

Looks like the team's offense and powerplay is completely dead without third liner Fiala
Offense is going to look worse when you lose a 21 minute a night defenseman from your top pair that also has the best +/- on the team for a defenseman. Breaks up the killer Roy/Gavrikov pairing too.

It's just a snowball effect throughout the lineup that impacts breakouts and such. Power play misses Fiala and Vilardi greatly.

It's not fun to take a trip down post-2014 playoff memory lane when it comes to injuries on the blueline heading into the playoffs:

2016 - Martinez
2018 - Muzzin (Doughty 1 game suspension)
2022 - Doughty
2023 - Potentially Anderson & Edler

Pretty brutal.
