Probably an unpopular opinion, but I think Laferriere should go down to ONT and Turcotte up. I wasn't surprised he was scratched last game. He's kind of struggled compared to early on and it's not a knock on him. I just think he could use time in the AHL.

Turcotte on the other hand seems to be doing well, has added some weight and strength, and with the way LA is built right now, it's an ideal situation for him to step into.

The only film I have seen since then that had a similar effect was Beau is Afraid. Completely different movie every time you see it.
I just heard that title for the first time recently — I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks for the rec

Problem there is Laf was pretty damn good last night.

The Kid has earned his shot, checked all the boxes required, and is ready for NHL ice. Couple that with being his last year of waiver expemption, it would behoove the Kings to give Turcotte a long look at the NHL level to see what they truly have.

Laffy has played admirably so far this season, but he has been far too inconsistent in his efforts to be a full time player. It’s a great cup of coffee for him to take down to the AHL, while he learns how to cope with the grind of a professional season, and be ready to challenge for a roster spot next year (Arvidsson’s spot, specifically).

I’d rather have Laf playing 1st line minutes in Ontario trying to become a legitimate top 6 winger and play driver. Turcotte is a player who I think would actually develop best in a role like the one Laf has on PLD’s line right now. His game’s detail enables other players to succeed. He also has great chemistry with Arty.

Remember when Cam Talbot was having an All-Star season in Minnesota and then they brought in Fleury and totally destroyed the dynamic and flopped in the playoffs?

I'm worried we try and bring in another goalie and it just doesn't work.

Lizotte may be out some games, prob perfect opportunity to call up Turcotte.

He was two years younger then. However, I don’t think we should bring in anyone until we give Rittich a shot as the clear backup.

Not direct personally at you, but WTF.....people clamor that we don't play the kids, that we have to slow boil everyone......now that we aren't doing that, people want them to?

And you wonder why I think y'all are f***ing bi-polar...

If Talbot keeps this up, they probably only bring in a vet goalie who can step in if something goes wrong and keep Talbot the #1.

Laf is playing OK but the production isn't there. He's dead last in points among the regulars, and while points aren't everything, when you are playing with very offensively talented players you should have more points than Englund.

He's got the pursuit and work ethic part down, but he's way too focused on the net. He needs some work on his vision, he misses a lot of higher-percentage scoring plays because he simply fires it on net without looking up a lot of the time. That will come as the game slows down for him, and sitting here and there will give him some time to pick that up. Young players can get a lot from watching in the press box, seeing things they miss on the ice. He's had next to zero time to do that as he's been in the lineup since camp.

Hell, remember when Copley was having a good season and they brought in Korpisalo and totally destroyed the dynamic and both flopped in the playoffs?

There's something to be said for routine and confidence/mojo. BUT especially in this case--Talbot is older, sure give him the option to play as long as he's feeling good, but we desperately need someone behind him that we can rely on as well. he can't play 60 games. Or even if he can, he SHOULDNT.

Laf is a great example of a guy who CAN play in the NHL right now based on raw tools but isn't going to reach his offensive upside if he stays there.

Great, now we know he's at worst a great 3rd line grinder. Send him back to the AHL and force feed him scoring minutes to build that scoring confidence rather than checking deference.

Kind of unrelatedly as @lumbergh pointed out in Around the League last night Canucks, Oilers, VGK all lost. Finally had a good standings night.

But then you look at schedules and it's like good grief, we have played almost nothing but playoff teams/division leaders and mostly when they're on hot streaks, it's crazy.

I REALLY hope that with the schedule softening up these guys don't play down a level. We all know the Oilers and Sharks et. al. will not be as bad as they were early in the season and that might help but it all adds up to the Kings might end up with the hardest strength of schedule we've ever seen  I'ts impressive what they've done so far and righting the ship at home was vital. Now to either jumpstart Copley or pull up Rittich, and find Turcotte some playing time.

I still find it difficult to think that Turcotte gets a legit shot this year. Laf has basically taken it away. He was awesome last night. Reminds me of an Iaffalo but I think he will score more once he gets going.

JAD is injury filler.

The Kings are current;y 4th overall in the league, and we're worried about the lack of scoring from some kid that wasn't even supposed to be on the roster opening night, who is averaging more ice time that the good old boy vet Trevor Lewis. It's been a pretty good start to the season.

Lots of talk about Turcotte. Is he blowing it up in the AHL right now?
Yes and no. He's got 12 points in 13 games, so that puts him around 40th in AHL scoring leaders. But the team has played less games than other teams. He leads the team in +/- at 5. So he is not dominant overall in the league but he is the driving force of the Reign.

Not enough talk about Talbot. He looks very dialed in right now and is a big reason why the Kings are where they are. He's top 4 in wins, save %, and GAA. I hate thumping my chest in November but he's looking like the bargain of the century right now. There's still a marathon ahead but if he can even maintain a portion of this swagger into spring we might be in for a pretty fun ride.

When a prospect has been getting derailed for years due to injury or whatever else, I don't necessarily like yanking them out of their current situation once they finally get into a groove.
