The only way he'd have played here is if he's the 1c, which he is in Nashville.
And there's this...

Interesting.. thanks. I think LA is low key for hockey. And I bet Kopi wouldve been fine not being the 1C if thats what it took to get this guy. Maybe he loves country music - in that case it would be a no go.

Clarke is going nowhere. The problem is you have 2 guys and one spot again, and Roy above them . So you move Roy, lose experience to make room, or move Spence to make room again and hope you can sign Roy. Not sure you want Spence and Clarke as your 2-3 RHD going into the playoffs.

In what world would that matter?

They aren't winning anything. They need the kids to progress.

the're not beating vegas or colorado

sometimes reality sucks. but the persistence of people to try to live outside of it is amazing.

NHL's best surprise: Brock Faber; NHL's Biggest Disappointment: PL Dubois. So, let the discussion begin... :sarcasm:

This season definitely has the potential to cause most Kings fans to lose their minds and go stark-raving mad in the streets.

We're in no position to question Blake. None of us have ever been a GM before :sarcasm:

Fiala was a win now trade vs Faber being an eventual win long term for Minny

however given the stud of a player Faber turned out to be... the addition of Liam Ohgren to that trade has made Minny the victor of that trade both short and long term

Fire Blake

Your assuming he's playing this year and not in the AHL, right? Because if you go by the Kings SOP he's in the AHL . Doughty-Roy-Spence would've started, just like they did.

I’ve held fire on this run before now because all teams go through dips but this is starting to become a big concern.

I don’t personally think the roster construction is the biggest issue even though it’s far from perfect. The problem is that TMac isn’t getting the best out of what we have right now and worst of all it doesn’t seem like things are about to change. They don’t even look close to turning it around.

I’m not buying the whole Blake doesn’t get a 4th coach narrative because WDJ was never more than a stop gap (pretty sure he was announced at Interim coach - but that may just be how I interpreted it) so I think he will get the opportunity to make a change this season. However he needs to do it now because if this continues much longer they will both go. Blake will get to the end of the season and must get out of the first round but right now play-offs in any shape or form are a concern.

Goaltending is a worry but it’d take a bold move to fix it and I don’t think a Vezina candidate does much more than paper over the cracks. The biggest issue is consistency and execution and when you cannot change the whole team the answer becomes simple. TMac has been there a while and it may be as simple as needing a new voice We don’t have the behind the scenes insight to really know what is going on, but it seems that something is.

In terms of the roster I would certainly not object to a bold trade to upgrade goaltending and/or physicality. Even if he’d waive his NTC Doughty is out because they didn’t give Clarke enough reps and most contenders don’t have cap space. So Roy is the only one with both moveable salary and trade value. You’d still have to package him with someone like Grundström to get the cap flexibility to get in what we need. If they wanted to be really bold the only other player that moving might help long term is Danault (who I very much like). It would mean QB goes back to C and you’d get cap space back. However thats only a move you make if you change coach and how we play. We all get attached to players but if we are playing badly with them, then the worst case is that we play badly without them whilst gaining some cap space.

I’m definitely worried but I am firstly hoping they turn it around, but I just don’t see where that is coming from right now.

Im certain another coach could do a much better job with the roster as it stands combined with options in Ontario. What kills my hope is having PLDs culture killer corpse to manage... that may be asking too much for the team and new coach to digest a malcontent like him... what do they do with him? He hasnt earned anything so to put him up in the top 6 shows lack of meritocracy.. which is bad for the team culture. 4th line or scratch also creates weird energy. So they keep his lazy ass on the 3rd line. Personally I think they'd be better off scratching him. Look at Winnepeg without him or Kyle Conner.. tops in the league.

Kopi/Doughty start every OT, Clarke and Kaliyev jerked around the lineup all season, Turcotte (and Lafereierre before Arvy’s injury) sent down despite a great camp, Fagemo waived because of the cap, reclaimed, and left to rot despite scoring a goal per game.

We are waaaay past damaging the culture with a lack of meritocracy now. I want PLD and Kopi switched tbh. Let’s see just how dead this guy is. Either PLD pops off with better linemates or he more likely continues to be an anchor and at least shuts up his defenders who keep saying his linemates are dragging him down.

(Okay I know they won’t shut up and will probably shift to blaming Byfield for being inconsistent or something but still.)

Was saying this last year during the regular season, the issue isn't the players on the team as there is a ton of speed and skill. Enough to win. The issue is the deployment of those players, and the system those players are being forced to play.

It's 100% a square peg in a round hole situation. Coaching has these skill players in a conservative system where their strengths (speed, skill, creativity) are being stifled.

This roster is a better team with no coach behind the bench playing pond hockey. You can see this in brief flashes when the players are allowed (or not allowed and just do it despite coaching) a two man forecheck instead of sitting back in a 1-3-1.

Of course a player does the above and then gets benched by the coaches or ends up in the dog house.

Said as much when traded for Dubois:

f***ing GM built a roster totally unsuited for the coach he hired. Chode level: maximum.
