It’s clear that the obvious upgrade spots on the roster are Nemeth, Gauthier, McKegg/Hunt

Gaut and Hunt are not the forwards that should come out of the lineup for an upgrade. They both have specific value in their respective games. We all know who needs to be upgraded...it will just be a brutally difficult decision to take that kid out.

Or trade him.....

Hunt has his uses but Gauthier hasnt done anything in weeks. The skillset is tantalizing but 2 points in 17 games from a 3rd liner isnt cutting it. I think we need to accept hes reaching bust territory. I still make that Keane trade 10/10 times though

Not sure if you're counting the time he was out for covid in those 17 games...but I do get your point. Of late he hasn't produced on the stat sheet. But he brings a speed element the team needs and hits kind of a lot. There are other guys doing less with more opportunity.

Lol at bitching and moaning after falling behind early
You see, I dont bitch HERE, BITCH/scream/holler and sometimes lose my shit at the TV. Seems to work.
All I said was "lets go! Get your heads out of your asses and play physical......forecheck for crying out loud! IT Worked, they listened to me.

The main board GDT was largely in agreement it was a kick.
Will do you one better. Toronto board 90% admitted it was as well, although they posted an egregious kicking that COUNTED in another game AGAINST them, so were comparing the two and the "inconsistency" of the NHL is what is maddening. I have to agree..

I'm enjoying this win more than usual. Mainly because, I don't feel good about the Canes on Friday. With Tony D scoring a PPG, he will be looking for payback. Not to mention, Brendan Smith, Jesper Fast, Brady Skjei, and Derek Stepan. I think we are in for it come Friday.

They could throw out 5 skaters on the ice who are all ex-Rangers with Antti Raanta in net. LOL

This will be Tony, Brady, Brendan and Jesper's first game against us since they left.

well-deserved. If they don't learn to play defense they are going nowhere.
I would hope Gallant keeps something like that in the lockerroom. You see that kind of thing from coaches who are not in control. Edmonton coach did the same after our match, I believe. Threw his goalie under the bus.

I wouldn't hazard a guess as to how well we will do in the playoffs. Only pointing out we will be playing in the post season. And that we still have a hill to climb if we want home ice.

How well we do in the playoffs is a whole different matter. There's no way we should have been swept by the Canes in our last appearance. After soundly handling them during the season that year. So who knows what may happen come May. But if Shesty is healthy, that could help our chances. A hot goalie is key in a short series.
Yup, we're gonna go to the dance. I feel we could keep up with a few of the playoff teams in the East (like Toronto) ... not all of them though - FL, Carolina, TB would likely handle the Rangers. But we'll see.

Bingo

I remember arguing with people this summer who were trying to just dump him in trades because they thought Nils was going to be the more unique player, and nothing against Nils but Schneider literally does everything that you want from an NHL defenseman. The way he's coming in and the way he's playing is just like McDonough when he stepped in here. He didn't need to be babied or sheltered he was just sent out there to play and he ran with it. Schneider's not going anywhere.
There is just something about the kid that just makes you KNOW he is gonna make it big time. Funny, you mentioned McD, like I did earlier in the same context. We will be right, although not the only ones.

Can anyone explain why we always have a terrible left d on this team....Staal after his injury, Johnson and now Nemeth. Its not like we cant afford a decent one.
Then who would HF have as our whipping boy? Heck, cant even bitch too much about our coach. Can we?
Playing 4th line on PP (albeit 30 sec.) Was brilliant, deserving of that line and would have lost if not for their efforts when we needed it most (spark)

My résponse wasn't meant to be a killjoy & I'm not a negative poster, so don't lump me in with that group.

I agree something special might be building here, but there's a lot of hockey left to play is all I meant.. I've been watching this team 40+ years & I've learned to never look too far ahead. One bad injury can derail a season, etc. I'm just enjoying these wins as they come.
50+yrs. for me. Yeah, off the top of my head.......
Jean Ratelle
Ulf Nilsson or was it Anders? Haha.
Rick Nash
Ryan McD

Watched the game again tonight.

Second period was one of the best of the season - Shesty never dropped his head and the D tightened right up.

The last period was just sauce for the goose - a delight to watch. Rewound some of the cellys and the boys looked as pumped as the Leafs were dejected.

An added gift was Austin’s sullen facade when they had the goal disallowed. Feck “em.

We looked rubbish in the first but that #noquit is ringing true……huge win!
I swear there was a camera shot of his face "very telling" that he KNEW it would be disallowed. Before it was. He KNEW what he had done.
Anyone see such?

GOD DAMN the crowd was great! Partially because the crowd was great, and partially because other broadcasts let you actually feel the energy. Anyone know why MSG dulls the crowd? It's very often not the loudest place to begin with, and then they mix the sound to make Sam and Joe sound like Gods Voice at Sinai with hushed overtones of the crowd as background noise. Lame.

Side point- that minute with just crowd noise was sick, I would hope they would eventually have that as a broadcast option for subscribers. The issue is that they then can't really justify the salaries of all the PBP production ppl. At least for highlights, I'd love a PBP and PBP-Free version to feel the energy.
I have a setting on my receiver that very much tones voice down and seemingly increases background (fans) noise. Gonna use it more. Sick of our broadcast crew. Sorry. Even watch opposition broadcasts as sometimes you hear an objective voice ( in other words......different than the rah rah that I cannot stand sometimes.

He messed me up last night. If it continues, I will eat more crow.
I forgive you, at least you admit when you're wrong. Who's the guy here that swears that Reavo is a crappy hockey player and has no Talent?
Even if that were true, there is a decided difference in the opposition taking runs and cheap shots at our players, what a big difference from last year

That's a cool setting! I sketch-stream on my computer and it's great quality and I can pause, playback, skip commercials etc. but no such options yet to adjust volume for different settings.

I too watch the opposition broadcast once in a while. I used to do it every game but when we lose it can be a bit much. It's real fun when we play well/win though, get a nice unbiased perspective.

It was Reaves too. People, even our own fans, were laughing at Drury and saying stuff like, "Sather's hands are all over this. He got in Drury's ear. They are going to ruin everything Gorton build!"
Shame on them if they can’t recognize the 3+ year flirtations with Reaves.

Chytil has looked like a different player. He heads full speed for loose pucks along the boards and I've even seen him initiate contact to improve position to win the puck. He used to stick check or wait to be hit and then try to adjust aka knock the puck away while on his ass. He seems to understand that small things can actually lead to points with his linemates Panarin and Stromer and is more willing to get his nose dirty. Why get your nose dirty when it's a dead end play anyway with Gaut and Laf or whoever else was on his line. Not a great mentality but some players need the carrot more than others.

Yeah, I think tonight is going to be an affair and I am a bit worried. The Rangers streak of ex players scoring is making me this way.
