I keep imagining if Parayko had been in Tucker’s position on the Watson/Barbashev boarding, and I just envision Parayko skating over, putting his arm on Watson’s shoulder, then looking at the ref. Thank God Tucker was on the ice on that play.
Parayko got boarded earlier in the game and did even less than that. Chatted up the ref while bleeding from the mouth.

I think he gets a lot of hate where he shouldn't but man, that was frustrating to see.

Kyrou and Thomas need to be better than the past few games. I do think having Buch and Saad back soon will help that tho.

I think it’s fair to ask them to play better. Just as it’s perfectly reasonable to ask or have asked any number of our vets to do the same.

Agreed. This isn't a two part problem. Every NHL veteran on this team has been piss poor the past three games. Someone needs to rally these dorks. I don't care about winning. But there has to be better effort.

I'd like them to be split up. Build a line around each of their skillsets. I really don't think they mesh all that well on the same line.

I think Kyrou should be with Schenn for a bit until we can get a few players back. The problem is I don't really see anyone besides Kyrou right now that would fit Thomas.

Yeah the options are limited. Maybe you could try Barbashev and Blais on his wings and hope they could get a strong cycle going. Not pretty but that's where we are.

Agreed, we are stuck with our hands tied behind our backs. This is just the type of year, drowning in injuries during a year we are selling off our UFAs. Luckily we only have a couple more months before we can see what direction we are actually going in.

If the coaching staff is worth their salt (other than Berube, I don’t think they are), you stick Thomas with the players you think are least likely to shoot and tell him to fire as much he likes and think pass second. For the rest of this season, obviously

Kyrou's strength is not defense, but can we stop blaming the attrocious +/-s on this team on the individual forwards? There seems to be a consensus that our d-core is garbage this year; that's the primary reason we're leaking goals. It's not like RoR suddenly became a massive defensive liability this season, even though his +/- was terrible.

we have a relatively talented group of defensemen. Reasons we are garbage are largely on coaching staff.

Either way, the goals against aren't primarily the fault of the individual forwards, yet we're using +/- to say that Kyrou's defense is a major problem. Defense is a weakness of his, but you could replace him with prime Hossa and this team would be in the same situation.

i think 2 things here. 1. Our forwards in general are let off the hook too much by fans for our defensive lapses. 2. Kyrou gets way too much blame.

Fire the defense coach, hopefully, replace him with a better defense coach. Get some support for Thomas and Kyrou; they're not going to carry a game on their own. Hopefully, after doing that, we can get a real 1D into the system before our new core ages out.

the first goal last night Barby was the forward that started gliding back around the red line allowing Svechnikov the extra space, the 2nd goal Rosen didn't stay with his man, the 3rd goal Thomas randomly skated around until he defended a player already covered by Krug
Kyrou gets a -3, so obviously it was all on him

The staff is mostly what we had in our cup championship year, except for Montgomery. So is the problem Craig MacTavish?

You can't argue with the success that Montgomery has had in Boston. (And had in Dallas)

But why is MacTavish the bad guy? I know nothing about his coaching skills and can't get a read on them seeing him standing behind the bench. Have any of our departing players commented on him?

Robinson was handling d that year too. Once he retired play tailed off.
