The bolded makes absolutely no sense and I have, unfortunately, seen this used far too many times.

The president is responsible for who the gm is.

The gm is responsible for who plays, how much they make, who coaches, draft picks, trades, ect.

The goal is to win the cup. When you constantly fail, the blame belongs to those who have the most responsibility.

I'm sure if the Leafs had won at least one round this year you would be giving dubas praise.

But after his 4th consecutive loss, it's not his fault?

All of the people who dislike dubas just want success. If we had made the semi finals like Edmonton there would be very little complaining. But instead here we are once again being told to keep running it back and hoping for a different result.

This is fair if the team sucks. But the players going from producing 100+ points to ppg in playoffs is not on the management team.

In the few posts that preceded this you just said that Keefe should get credit for the PK because he's the head coach and has final say in all areas, but should not get blame for the playoffs because that is ultimately on the players.

Yup. Coach can lay out the best plan in the world, he ultimately is not executing it's the players.

AHHHHHHHHHH

I always mix up Gilman and Pridham. I thought this was Pridham and wondered why no new posts since 1:23pm

He was supposed to be a brilliant mind somehow he was forgotten in TO. Wondered what happened.

It's Toronto media... Dubas was "boy genius", however, Doug Maclean recently said that Dubas had came to him for advice while Dubas was GM of the SOO Greyhounds because he thought the owners were going to fire him. Considering he was the SOO gm only for 3 years, that means the Greyhounds owners weren't all that i.pressed with him there...if he thought he was gonna be fired and sought out Maclean for advice.

So now we're blaming Gilman for the horrible Foligno trade.

All that video showed was Gilman pointing out the obvious. If, big if, there were actually four teams offering a first for Foligno then three of them weren't gonna get him. That and the Leafs first round pick was probably the lowest of the bunch.

I didn't hear anything about adding to the trade.

Dubas came up with that idea all on his own. The best part of the deal is the fourth round pick. It's like Columbus knew they were fleecing him already with the first and asked for a toss in.

Lol... knowing Dubas he probably insisted they take the extra pick.

This is a man who couldn't negotiate himself INTO a hostage situation. Columbus was probably all giddy they managed to secure a first for their injured and overrated player. They were already high fiving themselves at hoodwinking the young insecure GM.

Then Dubas gave them the fourth too.

... some incredible insight by Gilman, "if they have 4 1st round picks on the table, Leafs are low bidder and 3 teams are left at the altar. Dubas upon hearing this Einstein like Math sighs loudly "oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!"

Lol Shanahan you idiot.

Not sure I see an issue with that.
Leafs 1st. round pick would have been around 26th., which would have less value than 1st. round picks from teams from 15th. to 26th.

2021 first- and 2022 fourth-round pick from Toronto and retains half of Foligno's $5.5 million US salary-cap hit. The San Jose Sharks get a 2021 fourth-rounder from Toronto for taking 25 per cent of Foligno's salary to make it work on the Maple Leafs' books.

The cost wasn't an issue, the fact he wasn't healthy was.

They tried again with O'Reilly, another Filigno type player.

I agree and i'll add that not only did Gilman state the obvious about our pick being the lowest but he also said if their GM is telling the truth .

I will also say it should have been obvious there wasn't another team offering a 1st when all it took was Dumbass adding a 4th for them to go with our offer , no team trades down in the 1st for just a 4th but the self proclaimed smartest person in the game couldn't see that .

Even if Gilman was hinting that Dubas should add to the trade that's still not on Gilman.

Whatever horrible advice Dubas got, and chose to follow, is on him. If someone tells me to do something stupid at my job and I did it any fallout should belong to me. No difference here with Kyle Dubas doing dumb things.

The medical staff probably told Dubas to trade for Foligno too I'm sure.

i agree it's all on Dubas as the GM regardless of whether someone was advising him to add but i didn't even see Gilman hinting at adding , Gilman just stated the obvious and it still came as a shock to Dubas , lol

Dubas is great at one thing and that's self promotion , he's completely incompetent at everything else and what makes it worse is he believes his own bullshit .

All I remember is Dubas not wanting Taylor Hall and electing to go for Foligno instead.
