Honestly, it sucks.

I am really hoping we don't go too far the other way and bring in someone who is past their prime (Lou/Holland type) who butchers this team, and I am praying we don't bring in Treliving to trade one of the core players.

I think Dubas is a great GM and it sucks he is leaving, I trusted him to trade one of the core pieces, and can't think of too many GMs I trust that are available.

My advice to them, if you want to utilize analytics, hire the best people, not guys who think they're good. Plenty of options, even if they know nothing about hockey, they will adapt within 1-2 months.

I like many of the moves he made and dislike a few as well and the draft is coming up and call him unlucky or whatever but it’s not exactly been great.

I’ve been out of the loop but it seems the indication was to ‘run it back’? No dude, not after one series win in seven tries.

The team is entertaining and likes to have fun but is deeply flawed and he got told to make a major move and said no. If this happened then he deserves to be let go.

He’ll get a job somewhere else and be fine.

Dubas was a good man, learned alot on the job, unfortunately for the Leafs. There are many moves he could have made to shake the team up and didn't do it e.g. bring in an Ekholm type defenceman, a Bertuzzi, a Pietrangelo, an Eichel, etc.

This core couldn't get it done and perhaps knowing he'd have to change a few of them along with getting rid of good friend Keefe, and important signings coming up, the effect on his family etc that he decided it's best to move on.

We have to wait to see what Shanahan says. He might have waited so long to say something because he's been working the lines trying to find a GM.

But let's not trash Dubas, he did alot of good things on and off the ice for this organization. We'll miss him but honestly perhaps it's best we get some new voices in the organization.

Everyone is assuming it’s going to be a shit show when Dubas put them in thst position with the contracts and NTC give gave to the big 3. It was pointed out at the time of the signing and people are acting shocked now.

* Became apparent this morning that this is where it would end up.

* Comments he made on locker exit day, caught organization really off-guard. Definitely felt extension talks were being had, but when Kyle opened the door to him not being "All-in", it cast doubt.

*Not sure how the team will spin it - organization decision vs Kyle's personal decision. Had some sources tell him it was a team decision, but he's not so sure.

* Dubas was a huge part of this team, including off the ice. Says he's stunned that the organization moved off him. Doesn't think Dubas was out of answers, and would have bet on him continuing to grow and evolve on the job.

That's a massive loss, and such a leafy thing to happen. MLSE really messed up not extending him last year. He's going to go win a cup somewhere else.
Hopefully, we don't slide backwards into dinosaur GMs again, and destroy everything that's been built.
Really sad day for this organization and fanbase, even if some don't realize it yet.

Been a fan for over 50 yrs and I thought Dubas was one of the best GM’s we had
