Great news, I like Dubas as a person but he was always unsuitable for a GM job that early in his career. Would have been best served to stay on in an AGM role for 5 years or so rather than jumping into the big job prematurely.

Exciting times ahead for Leafs Nation, team has a lot of interesting decisions ahead of them.

Bring Burke back, with Shanny as a buffer between the board . Let him negotiate the contracts.

Well I hope it's not a full scale front office tear down. Replace the GM, I don't really have a problem with that, thought Dubas was fine, but not opposed to a fresh look.

Just don't take a flamethrower to it, the analytics, scouting, etc., etc., steady as she goes there boys...

Think we are going to regret this decision.

At this point, you may as well strip it right down to the studs and start all over again. Really don't agree with this decision to move on from Kyle.

I cannot say I have ever felt this way towards a departing GM, but Kyle deserved better from this core group. They failed him, not the other way around.

I will genuinely cheer for Kyle wherever he goes. His impact on our franchise will be felt in a positive way for years to come.

I really liked him as a GM and as a man. Wish him all the best. He’ll be back with another team
The timing is rough, lots of work to do.
That said, I’m also fine with the idea that a new face can come in an objectively build something new without the same connections. Not that I thought Dubas wasn’t capable.
Hope the next one has a vision and is smart. Walking into a strengthened organization: better analytics, better scouting, better development. Caps in an okay spot, some premium assets to play with, a strong roster with no bad contracts on the books. Decent prospects that are close.

Was gonna be a fun summer either way.

Good luck Dubes.

If he decided he couldn’t hack it anymore good riddance. Guy makes millions, can have a nanny, private schools, anything he wants and it’s still just too much for him? Like his team, can’t take it in the corners when it gets tough. Sorry. Wimp.

If it was the team, I’ll retract but I don’t think it was here…

this is such minimum wage thinking.

What worries me the most is a new GM coming in and doing nothing because they want to get a handle on things. Serious decisions have to be made by June 30th. Not having an extension for Matthews or Nylander is unacceptable. Either traded or signed on July 1.
