Not sure about the public perception of this but he'd be that experienced guy. Apart from that, there is a lot of talk about Calgary not letting anyone speak to Brad Treliving and I don't think we can wait for him till post draft.

Bowman would work for me, especially if his dad is still in his ear. Hell, I'd bring Scotty back to coach if he wanted, even at the age of 89, lol, no question.

He traded away a ton of picks for players that didn't work out. He got rid of Carter Verhaegee for nothing and Carter bit the Leafs in the ass and turned into a 40 goal scorer, and then dominated the Leafs in the playoffs. That was Lamoriello and his famous picture day prospect purge. Guy was the only C prospect in the org and he got dumped.

That is absolutely terrible. Dubas in 2018 alone got Sandin and Durzi with his first two picks, and we also have Holmberg from that draft who looks like he will develop nicely. His drafts since then also have fairly promising players who have performed well at their respective levels. For example, he only had 3 picks in 2021 and managed to get Knies, Ty Voit and Peksa, all of whom are tracking very well.

Not only were Hunter's picks questionable when they were made, they also performed horribly after getting drafted and never had any success at their levels. Many guys who were selected were overage players who were out of the system entirely within only 2 years of being drafted. Colossal waste. We needed these guys to join the team on ELCs to support Matthews and the rest of the core.

Please don't forget that Mark Hunter selected Egor Korshkov for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2nd round of the 2016 NHL draft instead of Jordan Kyrou, Alex DeBrincat, Samuel Girard, or Carter Hart.

Shanny as temp GM makes sense if they've targeted an AGM on one of the team still in the playoffs.

No team will ever win with TWO of their top C's out, or basically ineffective.

I agree on Matthews at this point though.. we need to determine what his future is.
 
Honestly good for him.
They didn’t extend him. They let him dangle and it bjt them.

He walks away for nothing leaving them. Scrambling. Better learn for Matthews
