Too early for many teams to trade good pieces, many times keeping them this earyly in the season trying to see what they got in prospects ready to step up or keeping pieces still in case on injuries it’s so early in the season

Are any teams finding solid trade partners this early in the season?

Most teams evaluate their rosters around American Thanksgiving. Then start the process of trades after Xmas.

The reality might be different come mid-January, and Dubas should find a trade partner by then.

Considering how many teams are into LTIR or are within a blink of being maxed against the cap, is that really that hard to imagine though? There are only 6 teams with more than $4 million in cap space and three of those are in his own division. It shouldn't be a surprise at all that there would be difficulty either finding an even dollar for dollar move with teams in a similar position OR that teams he's in competition with in the division aren't going to be eagerly trying to help him out of his cap and contract situation.

Then he should have no trouble finding a trade partner. And yet here we are.
Because the players he is trying to move have no value. Closer to the TDL a playoff team might make a move for a depth player who can fill in for injuries. This early in the season nobody is wasting cap space and assets on players they really have no use for.
