Kyle Davidson has to be Fired at this Point

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Another thing to Note, we just traded away maybe our best defensive defenseman. None of our other defensemen play physically. We might have the softest defensive group in the league

The Byram trade very much strikes me as a "yeah, we really can't finish toward the bottom of the league for another year" kind of trade. Which is fair. We have definitely seen teams get stuck in the rebuilding loop, staying bad forever and trading away their good players for rebuild 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 because they never really get to the point of not rebuilding anymore.

The issue is that, IMO, Byram just isn't that good.

Might as well tell me who drives a faster car, point is Dach isn't half the player Nazar is, but ofc Montreal fans think Dach is the greatest the second he has a decent handful of games.
Nope real Habs fan like me know Nasar is 10 times better than Dach . Kirby Dach is a bust bordeline AHL er

anyhow terrible trade for the hawks for Byram

So he would basically have an exceptionally good forward corp but no D whatsoever? Doesn't that remind you of Toronto?

I think he's done an amazing job in Chicago. He got them a 1A/1B C, at least two top pairing D with good depth and a #1 goalie. The rest is quite easy to acquire via trade or FA. He's done the hard work already

I give him a ton of credit for not being afraid to boldly choose direction when he got there...That was great....

Since then some of his choices as far as transactions/draft picks go are very questionable.....

The title says it all. I'm not even a Blackhawks fan but this dudes incompetence is reaching Peter Chiarelli levels of bad. He could've had Bedard, Demidov, Frondell, and Stenberg/Malhotra/Reid as a core for the next 10-15 years. Buddy is basically a domestic terrorist at this point
He’s Canadian (a filthy foreigner) so he’s just a regular terrorist , not domestic

He sucks. Questionable drafting and I can’t believe he traded the 4th overall and Bedard still has no one to play with on his line. Bedard’s ELC is over and the team hasn’t gotten any better.

Also, why the heck didn’t Toews retire as a Hawk?? Davidson has been really clear he wants to usher in a new era for the Hawks, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that was his call
Can’t Frondell play with him?

Up until last night, his term here has been inoffensive.

Yes, Hawks should have picked Demidov in 2024. But two other teams after the Hawks also passed on him on, with one of those teams still regretting it. Demidov is a Russian winger, it's not hard to see why he dropped a little in his draft.

And trading for Byram will absolutely help this team. It just came at too high of a cost.

Off the top of my head, I can't name a third thing he truly f***ed up on. He hasn't been good, but let's pump the brakes on acting like he's the next Milbury.

Davidson miss steps.

Korchinski (the handling of him not the draft of him... yet.)
Trading to move up twice for Sasha Boisvert costing 4 second round picks where he could have drafted Cole Hutson
Levshunov over Demidov
trading for the pick that drafted mason west using the picks that were used to draft Alexander Zharovsky and potentially Bryce Pickford
signing Corey Perry who ended up SAing Bedards drunk mom at the team hotel
Trading Taylor Hall for some reason for a third and eating 50% of Mikko's contract... what? (Hall would have been third best forward on Chicago this year)
getting into a bidding war with San Jose over Byram about to turn in a year UFA that wasnt going to resign without getting him extended in a sign and trade and losing Crevier your starting 1RD

both Hagel and Debrincat trades were bad but its possible if one or both was still on the team then the team doesnt land Bedard, which is a crazy paradox of luck and should still be negative moves on his part.

Trading for Byram also is a signal of no confidence IN YOUR OWN DRAFTING ABILITY as you drafted three defensemen in the first round since 2022. (it usually takes a few years for defensemen blah blah blah. its been 4 years for Rinzel and Korchinski. How many years do they get?)

Byrum played with Power last season, not Dahlin.

Not arguing that this was a good trade for Chicago but this does make them a better team today, though at a steep price.
Byrum was a beast vs. the Bruins in round one last season, clearly their best defenseman. If Chicago can harness that Byrum more times than not, their fans won't be too upset.
Yeah tbf Byram has played most of his young career as a 2nd fiddle to a stud franchise defenseman. First Makar, then Dahlin (or Dahlin/Power).

Hes only 25, could still turn out to be a stud himself now that he's got the opportunity to do it.

Definitely a steep price.

Who? They got caved in defensively this past year, their forward core doesn't backcheck and are Manlets for the most part

Byram is ok offensively and we will finally see if he can carry a PP1, but he's not exactly reliable defensively.

Who is the other top Pairing D? Let's keep in mind their guys, for the most part, have been stunted developmentally by being thrown in the fire.

IDK this feels like something where in 5 or 6 years Byram has been a top pairing D and whoever they pick is like Nemec and hasn't really established themselves fully as anything in the NHL.

Hawks have many kids on their elcs and that is how they won their last cups. Add win now dmen who can get them the puck and hope your goalie gets hot
