Kyle Davidson has to be Fired at this Point

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Ya, that package for Byram would have gotten a conversation started for almost any player in the league. Don't know how that happened.

And he's still essentially refusing to get Bedard the vet help he should have had from the start.

The title says it all. I'm not even a Blackhawks fan but this dudes incompetence is reaching Peter Chiarelli levels of bad. He could've had Bedard, Demidov, Frondell, and Stenberg/Malhotra/Reid as a core for the next 10-15 years. Buddy is basically a domestic terrorist at this point
This thread keeps bouncing.

He sucks. Questionable drafting and I can’t believe he traded the 4th overall and Bedard still has no one to play with on his line. Bedard’s ELC is over and the team hasn’t gotten any better.

Also, why the heck didn’t Toews retire as a Hawk?? Davidson has been really clear he wants to usher in a new era for the Hawks, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that was his call

Byram is very good and instantly makes the Blackhawks ways better. However, it seems like a steep price. Maybe they are eyeing Tuch?

Is Byram "very good"? I feel like the only times he has been "very good" in the NHL were that one playoff run with Colorado and when he was paired with Dahlin last year.

Not really the guy with a track record to pay a haul for and also give a mega deal to.

He’s doing a fantastic job and Chicago will be a playoff team this year.

If not, it’s karma for the Beach scandal and the universe is balancing things out. Love to see it.

Only a matter of time for Bedard and everyone can see it coming but Kyle
I'm not sure, this seems like a panic move because Bedard's RFA negotiations are not going well and he's convinced himself he needs to trade the 4th for help and this is the best he could do.

Wouldn't be surprised if Bedard's camp said he's planning to sign a 4 year offer sheet or something like that.

Byrum played with Power last season, not Dahlin.

Not arguing that this was a good trade for Chicago but this does make them a better team today, though at a steep price.
Byrum was a beast vs. the Bruins in round one last season, clearly their best defenseman. If Chicago can harness that Byrum more times than not, their fans won't be too upset.

Power and Byram pairing were very good last year. Who carried the weight on that is a debate amongst Sabres fans

Yeah his rushing of defensive prospects is very bad too.

Levshunov looked good when they were playing him 16-18 minutes a night in the first 20 games and was only -2, but later as the season went I see 20-25 minutes a night and a season ending with -41, only 11 PPP and 13 ES points, its clear they need some sheltering

Korchinski got similarly crushed in his Rookie season. It messes with their confidence

Get a few Leddy's and Klingberg's to throw to the wolves and let the kids slow cook instead of letting them get caved in

I dunno if its "nobody to play with" so much as it is they are not developing and meshing. Questionable draft decisions for sure. Korchinski, Moore were both drafted years ago and are now depreciated assets. Kantserov by contrast got better away from Chicago's in house system, but it remains to be seen if he can translate that in the NHL on smaller ice surface at his size.

The sharks rebuild seems to be going smoother because they are developing and meshing well together, and because they smartly got some insulation for the kids that need it. Part of that is just Generational Celebrini bringing out the best in ANY linemate. Graf was scoring a PPG on his line when they were together briefly and Graf is more of a middle 6 swiss army knife. Some guys just have that "can score with anyone" and some don't have that ability

Realistically, as much as Hawks fans often say "Celebrini has more to play with" as a reason he's taken over the top generational spot on the pedestal, its more he's able to elevate anyone he plays with and help them grow. That's a special leadership talent on its own.

Hell, in the offseason, Bedard trained with Celebrini and Bedard's skating improved immensely as a result. Some guys just have that "it" factor

ehhh.... even if CHI needed more young Dmen(they don't), I'd rather take my shot with one of Reid or Carels. Having said that, they could've had one of Stenberg or Malhotra for a badly needed boost to the front lines. Also, could've used that pick for a WAY better return ...that's enough to start a conversation with DAL for Robertson, if they wanted to go that way, or TOR, for Knies, if they wanted to go younger.

It's incredibly stupid - which I love, as a Wild fan. CHI was starting to look like they could really be something in 2-4 years, until this trade.

I haven't been over to the Sabres board, but I would imagine that they are turning cartwheels.

Even so, it was a redundancy to have both when Mrtka is also in the system who is probably the future 2nd pair RD for the sabres. Power is a 1st OA and locked up long term. Byram was traded for a few years ago. The decision was easy
