Laine Petan Connor is how I'd like to see the second PP if they were experimenting next season.

Ya, our top scorer with two AHL guys on the 2nd PP. Makes sense. You definitely don't want to put Laine on the #1PP because he might score too many goals.

Personally, I think Copp is a keeper. He has a lot of attributes that you want on a championship caliber team. He can play with talent, but also bring something in lower roles. He can kill penalties, play C and he's a big body that can really skate. His offense keeps getting better, and he actually has a good scoring touch with a good shot. I know the stats might disagree at this point, but I don't mind keeping him over Dano and Petan, all things considered. I think he'll be a key bottom-6 player for this team even as it transitions into a contender.

I agree, he suits the playoffs better, which you have to build your team for. Petan, Tanev, Dano; don't think they could grind out a series effectively.

I think we're better off exposing Armia because we could end up getting him back because Vegas will most likely place him in the press box or AHL because their roster will be so full. Dano will most likely get a chance.

Armia: Plays 3rd line on the Jets, not good enough to crack an expansion team roster. Makes perfect sense.

Copp reminds me of Craig Smith or Colin Wilson. He'll score enough if he's put in a bigger role, but he's not ideally suited for that bigger role - at least not as a driver. He's a nice bit player that can fill a hole in a lineup and help a smart coach spread out his skill.

If he can be played with Scheof and Wheeler - without talking them it is a huge plus for lines 2 and 3. Same is true for someome like Petan. He looked great with Wheeler. Use that! Build depth. We've seen Kessel, Ovi and Perry on 3rd lines in these playoffs and it isn't because they are bad.

Dare to dream!

Unfair to lump Dano with Petan and Tanev IMO. Dude can be a gamer. Tanev doesn't belong in the N and while I like Petan, he hasn't shown us enough yet.

I think given the right deal Conor would be great trade bate for a young LD.

Unfair to lump Tanev with Petan IMO. Tanev is bad while I'm pretty sure Petan can be good and Dano has already been good.

First the thread about Ehlers and now this. Why are we trading young core pieces to support declining, soon-to-be overpriced vets that haven't been able to lead the team anywhere for 6-7+ years now? Wheeler, Byfuglien, Enstrom, and Little should all go before we start thinking about moving the young guys.

I would agree with trading Byfuglien however don't think the organization is willing to do that. Enstrom isn't worth a whole lot, Wheeler is an essential leader and example to the youth as is Little. Not to mention they are both still very affective and will be for a few years while the youth gains experience. Unfortunately you have to get give up something to get something. If we are to get a young up and coming LD we will need to give something in return.

Yzerman lead detroit to #### too at same age.
Weird comparison. Yzerman missed the playoffs twice in his career, averaging over a PPG. Scored 50+ five times (twice over 60). Wheeler has never cracked 30 goals. I'll bet you Connor does within the next 2-3 seasons.

Completely agree, AWSAA.

Our 'winning window' opens very wide in 2-3 years when Scheifele, Laine, Ehlers, Connor, Trouba (hopefully), Morrissey enter their prime. Wheeler, Buff, Enstrom will be mid-30's. Likely past their effectiveness.

The only thing i want to do is add connor to the lineup with wheeler and not substitute him for Wheeler. And that goes with roslivic and little. aging vetrans are like the sudins or chara thornton marleau . Buff wheeler little are not.

Thread Bump.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but if Kyle Connor isn't going to play top 6 for us because his defensive game is still weak, then he should be sent down to start the season and get top minutes there as opposed to 10-12 minutes a night with the offensive black holes that are Lowry and Armia.

Watching him more so than most players tonight, he still does those lazy one handed drive by swipes at the puck and struggles to break out of his own zone. In the offensive zone, he looked a lot like Laine in his rookie year spending most of his time as the 3rd man watching his linemates do most of the battles. I say most, because he did get in there and work at times, but I thought he could have still been more engaged in this aspect. There was one situation I was watching where we lost possession deep in their zone against the boards later in the game with two Jets down in the corner and he took a lazy swing at the puck enabling the Minnesota player to clear the zone down the boards. If he's battling, in a 2on1, that just shouldn't happen as easily as it did.

Ehlers did play with worse linemates in the bottom 6 for a month and a half and turned out alright, but Connor has to prove he's a better option in the top 6 than Perreault who works his ass off every night. I just don't think he showed he belongs in our top 6 tonight when given the chance and the minutes to shine. He's got a lot more growing to do before he becomes the player we think he can be so the ice time down in the AHL might still be a smart choice for him.

Connor should be in the NHL. Put him with Little and Wheeler and he'll thrive.

Why hasnt Mo put connor with Roslo yet.. The chemistry they have is off the charts.

Just like Laine and Ehlers and little and wheeler. These guys have all got massive chemistry as pairs on the ice. We havent seen that yet this preseason tho.

"Connor is too good for whom the Jets like to put on the 3rd line - therefore, he must be put in the AHL for the greater good of having even more less-than-average players on the 3rd line."

I think it's more of Maurice thinking Connor's defensive game is so flawed he envisions no other scenario than putting two defensive minded players with him, when really the problem is that they can't keep up with him.

Because Roslo isn't making the jets (and frankly I can see why, not a knock but I think he'd be well served as the 1C on the Moose) and PoMo wants give give Connor the best chance of making the team.

Adam Lowry is going to be the 3C this year on the Jets. That much has been clear so far in camp I believe.

I think he earned the third line LW job tonight TBH. At least in my mind.

Well.. It doesnt hurt to try. Is Roslo really that much worse tho? Hes playing with scrubs also right now. Im sorry but its preseason. Why not try it? Cuz why? They might look good together?

Me too.

I actually thought Lowry earned himself the 3C job as well. Despite the *****ing about him his skating and puck skills have come a long way too. As well, he seems to enter and exit the zone with control fairly frequently. His game has improved even if the offense hasn't yet.

I thought he had his moments but still does to many flybys. should start on 3rd line and be the only under 22 player to crack lineup.
