Every year something like this happens and everyone goes nuts...then the player signs a contract with his team.

Hopefully a pleasant surprise?
Reading that makes me think the salary will be higher than expected or the term will be funky (really short or really long?)

Do you know he's in Moscow right now? Kinda strange for a too American guy.
The Kuch is a UFA in 3 years. Giving him a 3 year deal might be enough to drive his price down(in the sense he can get his big payday in 3 years)
If TB can bridge at like 6, that's a genius deal. To get Kucherov to bridge when he could get a huge payday in the KHL for a year pretty much puts all the risk on Kucherov.
If TB pays him 6 (probably below his value) and he doesn't produce as he has (unlikely), then TB doesn't put as much money on the table come the end of the deal. If he continues on his track, he'll get a 2-3 mil raise in a couple of years when Bishop, Callahan and Flip are all off the books.
With Kucherov getting a bridge deal, you also bridge Drouin next season, and in 3 to 4 years will have contracts falling off "naturally", won't have to move all these guys, maybe just one or two guys now like Bishop and Filppula, and It gets tight again then Garrison.
Drouin's not going to be bridged unless he has a mediocre season. If he has the sort of year I expect him to have he'll be a prime offer sheet candidate and we'll have to pay him to keep him. Unlike the Triplets he's not loyal to Tampa and will jump to any team willing to offer him a bigger contract; given our cap situation and his talent somebody will make a play at him.

Why would you give a player a long term contract north of 6 million for one strong season? It will be one full season. Even if it's a great season, will only be one under his belt. Drouin has already shown his other face like you said he is not loyal, and he has yet to play a full season in the NHL, and you want to throw him this huge contract? It's great that he has made amends with the team, coach, and GM but he still has ways to go before getting a large contract.
Drouin's teen years seems to be clearly over. He's behaved like a true pro and a mature person since coming back. If he wants to win, I have no doubt he'll highly consider staying with Tampa, even on a bridge deal.
