So who will Davidson sign? Anyone have any interesting names? Who does he know from CBJ/STL?
Is that Swedish coach (i think he was Swedish) still available? I remember people were talking about him last offseason. Sorry I can't remember the name.

I would love to see JD find some real coaching talents as assistants and an experienced guy in charge. Was actually thinking about Guy Boucher the other day. He has an excellent record in the AHL and also has experience from many other levels, NHL of course but also Europe and junior hockey.

Would love to see him complimented by two ex players. Maybe someone from Europe like Bert Robertson.

They need to do their homework and find a good headcoach and at least 2 assistant/associate coaches for Hartford.

What about Messier? He’s been trying to get a job in the organization. This could be a good stepping stone for him.

Would only be a matter of time before he insisted on making his presence known at the NHL level.

Scott Sandelin. Minnesota-Duluth coach. He doesn't usually get that many big names but he develops players and teams into winners. He's done more with less than Jim Montgomery for instance and Montgomery is probably going to be around in the NHL for a long time. Truthfully I could see Sandelin getting hired by an NHL team to coach and skipping the AHL altogether. Anyway watching Duluth tear apart Mass-Amherst in the NCAA final this year was eye opening. It was absolute domination that was one long 60 minutes of intense forechecking and backchecking. They never let up even for a minute.

You need a coach who thinks the same way Quinn does. Let Quinn hire the coach. Someone he trusts, knows and shares the same philosophy with. The one way you guarantee this rebuild to be a cluster**** is to have a headstrong AHL coach preaching a different message to our young players than the one they are ultimately going to have to follow once they make it to the NHL. The guy in Hartford has to value teaching the players the NHL system more than he values his own win loss record or springboarding into bigger or better jobs for himself.

That's a good idea too.

Interesting. I doubt he'd do it but were he truly committed to becoming a legit exec/coach he needs to put in some legwork. As @Crease implies I think it could potentially blow up in the rangers collective face. But it could work too with the right parameters and mindset. End of the day, though; risk outweighs reward by a large margin.

IMO theres no way Messier takes a back seat to a pair of non players like Gorton and Quinn. Toxic element and a recipe for disaster.

I agree but hypothetically he could come in a on a one year deal with a clear roadmap. I guess the bargain is Messier gets experience and Hartford gets a jolt of life and in theory the benefit of a true winning pedigree.
Again, I'm not advocating for it. Id prefer they find a good coach and start building something enduring asap. I'm just looking at it from another angle.
