This is the best possible outcome. We weren't going to get anything that has the ceiling that Kravvy does in return for him. Let him go work on his game and prove why he should be in the NHL.

Kid finally got some media coaching

Really though, pleasantly surprised and grudgingly impressed

I bet his agent wrote all of that. If he really wanted back, he would play at the AHL like other European hockey players. Chytil could have bolted whenever he got sent to the AHL but he is more mature, and stayed the course and is rewarded with being on the Rangers.

This whole ordeal would’ve been avoided if he just shut up and took his demotion like an adult.

Even with his statement I seriously doubt there is any long term future on the Rangers for him.
Why should a player with realistic option elsewhere (KHL) be forced by NHL club to play in AHL? Hockey can not be run by NHL clubs, as we can see, the game can be run by smart players very easily. Unlucky for other Europeans, they do not have a realistic option in their native countries (leagues), so they need to follow what NHL club says.

Trying to think if there was a player who ended up being a successful ranger with such a tumultuous start to their career here.

I guess I'd have to reference Zuccarello, who was not up to pace his first two seasons as a Ranger but somehow found his game after returning at the end of a KHL season.

Because he signed a contract with an NHL club and that's exactly how hockey is run. Leagues have rules and agreements.

I agree with Matt for once.

Not improbable at all, all it takes is an injury or two on the top 9 and he’s in.

I honestly always thought this was the most likely scenario. I still think he ends up playing as a Ranger.

Could happen. By the time the KHL season ends our gaping hole on RW may be an abyss. Maybe the hard feelings that exist now will subside and both parties might do what's in their best interests, egos aside.

Players and Coaches have much shorter memories than fans do.
And if/when he rejoined team, his conditioning and his game will be in game-ready shape.

I won't be surprised if it works out.
But also won't be surprised if Drury accepts a genuinely valuable offer, if one gets tendered.

если бы он не взбрыкнул, то играл бы вместо травмированного Какко.
вот и вся недолга. Это не значит, что Друри распорядился проспектами правильно, но не значит что рекация Крава правильна.

Yeah I find it hard to envision a scenario where we ever see Kravstov in a Rangers jersey again. This is just a PR stunt to improve his image so he can facilitate a trade.

Think there's a lot of confusion as to how to react to this, or how this is being perceived, for those who all ready wrote Krav off and made their minds up that he no longer had a place with the Rangers.

The "Yea well he probably will still get traded" and the "Doesn't change his future with the Rangers" stuff is classic "woops I overreacted and can no longer stand by the things i said" human autocorrect.

Sure, he could still get traded. But Rangers would be silly to do such a thing given the change in circumstance. Unless of course the return was legitimate. Meaning a very high end prospect or top 6 talent, which is what Kravtsov still is.

Glad I didn't spend 2 weeks trying to convince myself he's a terrible player with no worthwhile potential and no top 6 ceiling.

I assume the Rangers couldn't get fair value for him, understanding how good he actually is and can be in the future. Which flies in the face of a great deal of rhetoric over the past 2 weeks or whatever.

Anyway, we should get a clearer picture about where Kravtsov really is in his development once he straps on the skates for Trak. This KHL season will go a long ways to illuminating everyone on his ability and potential. For better or worse.

From my POV, this is the right decision. I will never argue that there haven't been mistakes made in this affair, that Kravy hasn't made poor decisions nor that our management also should have made decisions from interviews before the pick being made up until now.

But Kravy is a talented hockey player. He is a good hockey player, who should have a good future in a top 9 in the NHL, and he has a lot of potential on top of that. If we nurture that asset, it is valuable for the organization. Drury could have thrown that away, while taking a stance showing future kids that this organization isn't some kinder garden where you can do whatever you want. Would that have value? Perhaps. But at the bottom line, I think the pros outweight the cons with this approch. JMHO.
I’d say he is a talented player but not yet a good player by NHL standards. Mayyyybe it’s just a matter of opportunity, but that’s the thing, in my opinion. He hasn’t broken down the door with his recent performance anywhere. Otherwise I’d be more upset by the Rangers missteps. Anyhow, just a minor point. I agree with the rest.

hoping we can trade him for a tough veteran for the bottom 9 and pk

Does it matter who wrote it?

Ok, so now we know that Kravtsov is Kravtsov and not Chytil or "other European hockey players." Glad we figured that out.

Yea, lots of individuals who aren't Kravtsov would have, could have done a great many things differently. I don't think that statement has the derogatory implications you were hoping for.
