Option A)Trade him, we'll do ok with Carter as a number 1 center AND the pieces we'd get for him will fill our other holes. Trade an A for 3-4 B's kind of a deal.

Option 2)**** that ****. Kopitar goes no where, pay that dude exactly what he wants, doesn't matter the price.

Option Red)Pay him unless he wants over Getzlaf money, then trade him.

Option Submarine)Pay him more than Getzlaf, because anything else would be uncivilized.

Option Other)Lucy, you have some 'splaining to do.

Option Canadian Tire Money) Make him your best offer and if he doesn't resign trade him if we are out of the playoff picture at the deadline.

Nice choice!

Option Sheckler Guitar)Give him a Kings Sheckler guitar and his favorite Kings player jersey. I'm thinking he goes with a Granato #21.

I go with Option Rob Blake Him, just so that we can relive that entertaining 2000-2001 season all over again.

Low ball Kopitar and threaten to trade him if he doesn't come to terms, have Kopitar rip his 'A' off during the pre-season and get talked to taking it back by his coaches/teammates, get within a million or so dollars to Kopitar's asking price, then trade him while the team is still fighting to secure a playoff spot and see him win the Cup while the Kings get a collection of (poor) first draft picks and injured players that will end up setting the team behind for many years.

Are we safely 10-15 points into the playoff picture at the trade deadline, or are we on the bubble like last year?

How's option 2 winning??? So, if Kopi wants 15M x 8, DL should sign him for that amount/term??

Yeesh!!!

It's one thing to like/love a player, but let's think with our heads, and not with our hearts, shall we???

I think Dean will stand firm on what he believes is fair value and what fits into the salary structure of a team that expects to compete for the Stanley Cup for 3 or 4 more years.

He did it with Doughty, he will do it with Kopitar. If Kopitar's agents won't budge, I have no problem with Dean making the best deal he can, and the sooner the better.

If I recall right, DL wanted Doughty to be under Kopitar's wage and Doughty in the end made him bend and make him the highest paid player.

Not by much more though. We can only hope that Kopitar doesn't let his agent be a Richard.

The big thing with Doughty was getting some of his UFA years. I think Dean ended up giving Dougthty a fair deal that both sides liked.
