This is why the best team in hockey loses 20 games or so in a season. You just can't bring your A game every night. Not surprised by this performance at all. Who plays 3rd line RW now?

Vesey. Missed opportunities tonight aside he's clearly the best in house option.

Would expect Brodz or Belzile to get the call up to play on the 4th. Chytil returns, who ever got recalled gets demoted and we roll with that until we have reason not to.

I guess Othmann is also an option but I don't know that I'd want to throw him in right now just as he's getting his bearings at the AHL level.

We’re a better team once kakko is replaced by Othmann. Or Berard or whoever. Feel bad for him but he’s been atrocious. We’re about to be better adding a replacement and Fox.

Hoping chytil isn’t far behind

For the mismatch of parts that line 3 is, I'd go with Edstrom and just have him cycle with Cullye.

Bummer that Kaako got hurt, hopefully it's between 4-12 weeks and not 4-6 months.

I thought Miller had a particularly soft game, his play on the 3rd goal was really poor and soft.

Obviously you're not going to have it every night. Need to get back at it Wednesday night.

I'd like to see Igor keep his cool a bit more. Team is in first place and just lost their 4th regulation game of the season in game 20. Even with it being a frustrating game, there's no reason to be coming off the ice slamming his stick and freaking out. Fans can do it all they want but the team's star goalie doing it sends a bad message to the league but more importantly it can be seen as showing up his teammates.

He needs to get more level headed and realize the truth of the ups and downs of a season. Be confident that when you put in the work you will be consistently great, when you start worrying about every tiny thing that goes wrong in every game and that's a wormhole to fall down and lose your focus on the process and start to spiral. He had this same issue between the ears last season.

A predictable loss, but still despicable.

Igor shesterkin flat out sucks this year. It Hass to be said he looks sloppy he looks unpredictable. He looks unsettled he looks like he’s in space at times and right now he’s looking like a number two goaltender.

Make no mistake. We need to draft a goaltender with our first round pick next year if we don’t trade it for the usual washed up stiff.

kandre Miller. This guy is unwatchable. Softer than Tom poti listening to Air Supply on rollerblades.

The Rangers have a talent problem. Don’t be fooled by the start a lot of it has to do with the system but when it comes down to raw talent, I would trade my roster with Buffalo today right now.
Seriously? Igor kept us in this game with some tough saves early in the game.

I guess we just burn it all down because we're not perfect. Yeah this one was a stinker but you move on. We're still on top in the East and Fox will be back shortly. We're still in good shape and just need to figure out the Kakko situation.

Berard may get a look .

this is who i would really like a look at. the speed he could infuse and the way his game perfectly fits a 3rd line role could make him a great fit with bonino and cuylle.

unfortunately we all know who it's going to be. i mean brod can play effectively i guess, he's not a liability out there...he just doesn't ever do anything that makes a difference and offers no upside. would much rather a kid who brings more quickness and a skillset that might bring more production with how it compliments that line.

wonder if othmann gets a look too if it's not brod. know berard is producing more and personally prefer his skillset for this roster...but othmann was one of the last guys sent down, has played well enough where it's reasonable to give a look, and he has the pedigree that might push him to the front of the line. he's got a decent skillset in that spot too and the right disposition...but if it's me i'm choosing the option that adds the most footspeed to this fwd group right now.

When you hear about Hank in practice going 29/30 in shootout drill and breaking his stick going off the ice heated...idk I'm ok with goalies leaving pissed.

The problem this year is he isn't bouncing back in game. Then he again he hasn't fully regained his form before the injury. We don't need Georgiev level head case in the middle of the game.

Buffalo exposed some weakness in us. They forechecked our d to death and caused us to tire for extended times in our end. Fox will help that, get Gus off his wrong side will help that. Kakko imo is out for a long time, good time to try out Berard.
Ths Vesey miss was a turning point

I mean, it was 2-1 with more than half a period left. I don't think it was a defensive disaster tonight.
Yeah. There were a few breakdowns which happens every game to everyone team. Rangers had some good chances they couldn't cash in. Had they put in a couple early its a different story.

Take a breather. Think about all the great goaltending we have had in the history of this franchise. Now tell me which of them were first round picks. An 18 year old goaltender is not the answer, and don't tell me about Tom Barrasso.
