I'd like to be leaving a more top end prospect in HFD for once maybe, but Kakko has been beyond disappointing for virtually his entire tenure in the NHL.
Chytill supposedly being back before Fox, absolutely no surprise despite Fox's extended time out that Fil will be back after him. His propensity to injury is a real issue going forward as @Machinehead & others have said.

I think it’s a combination of two things.
1. He’s frustrated with his play. (Obviously)
2. I think he’s starting to sense the team plays differently in front of him. It seems like he hasn’t been getting the same effort/goal support when he’s in net which is probably on some level frustrating.

Six games in nine days including back to back afternoon games and the Sabres were humiliated their last game while the Rangers came off a dominant win over the best team in the league. That probably explains the late meltdown.

The effort was bad in the 1st, but not the 2nd and 3rd.
For whatever reason the passing and stickhandling were horrendous.
Buffalo also played very well. There's a lot of talented players on that team.

Teams are focused on them, until another line starts consistently putting the puck in the net the rink will get smaller around that line.

I wouldn't be against jiggering the lines now that Kakko is out anyway. I liked Vesey-Zibanejad-Wheeler despite the missed chance.
Can Cuylle play the right? Kreider-Bonino-Cuylle would add an actual threat to that line.

That game wasn't the worst but it was definitely a game from last year. We lost all the improvements we've made in breaking out and handling the puck cleanly. Couldn't string two passes together early in the game.

Lundqvist's contract was $8.5m. Shesterkin would boil his agent alive if he came in at $8.5m.
I mean, not me. I wouldn't give a goaltender 8.5 dollars, but that's me. The Rangers would jump at signing Shesterkin to 8.5. I'm worried about 11-12m.

It was a Gallant start. Lazy, unengaged. And the Sabres did really well with sealing off the options on our zone outs and also muddied up the neutral zone. Some speed, like we showed after the 1st period, pushed them back and kept them honest. We controlled P2 and P3 honestly and we should have at least tied it regulation. The rob on Vesey was game, set, match.
The Wheeler goal was correctly waved off. Cuylle did direct the puck with his elbow. Technically not a hand pass, but you can't direct the puck with intent offensively by using anything other than your stick.

Actually this happened during the Obama administration when the NHLPA got absolutely Trouba'd to prevent another lost season.
The stars made out but the shit is hitting the fan on middle of the road players because everyone is up against the cap paying their stars.
