Is it really such a big deal that he hasn't played in 14 months? It's not like most dmen are playing from May to October anyway. It just feels like a footnote that is meant to sound like a bigger deal than it really is. I do assume he'd have some rust, but it's nothing like if Landeskog would come back for the Avs, for example.

It’s all a big question mark but people are probably drawing conclusions because he carried the reputation of being garbage defensively and missing time from hip resurfacing surgery (Dreger says it’s a serious procedure). I mean who knows how long it’ll take for him to get up to NHL game speed.

The reports said that he’s been skating on his own. He’ll practice with the team on Monday.

Klingberg played with Ekholm at the World Championships in 2015, 2018 and 2019. Arvidsson and Janmark were also on the team in 2018 (they won gold).

This year, in all likelihood, is the best chance they'll get for a Cup in the McDrai window. This feels more in line with the James Neal, Duncan Keith additions. The organization should be past the point of wishful thinking, believing that they'll get miraculous rebounds for players that have sucked for years, buying lottery tickets in hopes that they make you rich instead of finding proven solutions to problems. Identify a need and fill it with a player that has shown they can fill that need at an adequate level in 2025. Everything else is BS.

It would need to be like when Colorado acquired Lehkonen, Manson, and Kuemper. That is what I see going all in tbh. We need alot more cap than we have now in order to make moves like that.
The players closest I see similar to something like the avs did is like
Jake Evans, Vejmelka, and like Marcus Petterson. That would pretty much solve all the areas we need.

What? Where do you get that it would cost roster guys for a 2nd pairing D? Picks and prospects, and maybe a cap dump in Skinner at the most. No way Kulak or Podz moves.

But I agree with your sentiment. It's stupid to think that just because we brought in Klingberg that the door is shut on other moves. Considering his history, I think we see a D add regardless of his performance. Either a top 4 guy if he sucks, for obvious reasons. Or if he kills it I think you still bring in a LHD as a #7/8 guy. We have zero organizational LHD depth after the top 3 guys on the roster.
