He should fit well in with Janmark, Ekholm and Arviddson off the ice. Interested to see what he looks like on the ice.
It’s all a big question mark but people are probably drawing conclusions because he carried the reputation of being garbage defensively and missing time from hip resurfacing surgery (Dreger says it’s a serious procedure). I mean who knows how long it’ll take for him to get up to NHL game speed. Is it really such a big deal that he hasn't played in 14 months? It's not like most dmen are playing from May to October anyway. It just feels like a footnote that is meant to sound like a bigger deal than it really is. I do assume he'd have some rust, but it's nothing like if Landeskog would come back for the Avs, for example.
When you are always playing offence you don’t need to defend.Im excited to see his outlet ability. Not excited to see the defensive ability.
Yes we shall.Hopefully the the skating and skill is still there. Guess we shall see how he does with Coffey
Thank you.I love Coffey so much. He brings so much. If only we had a goaltender coach as solid as him.
Just wanted to point out that Klingberg played with Janmark, Perry and Henrique. Not sure if he played internationally with Arvidsson or Ekholm.
Definitely creating a group of guys who will be playing for each other.
Edmonton ain't a bad city though. Been there it's definitely levels better than Buffalo or Winnipeg or even Minnesota. Just a bad rap, players who play here are a bit surprised. No assets out and a sizable upgrade on stecher imo
It's pretty wild that Edmonton has become a destination. Many teams would have taken him on this contract
That wouldn’t explain his career average-30 lmaoHe can move the puck, and getting the puck up to the forwards will help the defending by playing in his own end less (hopefully lol)
You must be new here, addressed needs are miracle occurrences for this orgHe was a GA machine at times. Don't really get this signing. We're loaded with D that contribute offensively and score. Whats the need addressed here?
Don't tell that to that goof nucks poster in 'Oleksiak' from the mains Klingberg thread. He even thinks still that our defense is bad compared to the nucks LMAOOOOOO. Apparently our only good dman is Ekholm. So f***ing delusional of these mainboards mouthbreathers.
Can't blame Klingberg. Who would want to join that mess with an overrated coach, a one player team in Hughes, a soft overpaid pouter in Pettersson, and a toxic teammate in Miller. They can't even get ahead of a rebuilding flames team in the standings, comical.
They have Derek Forbort - Tyler Myers and Soucy - Desharnais as their 2nd and 3rd pairing. Absolutely garbage.
Who is even available as 'all in' and are you good with paying Kulak+Podkolzin+1st for a 2nd pairing RD?I wish they just actually went all-in. No projects, just get good proven NHL players to fill the gaps at the deadline and pay whatever it takes. This year, in all likelihood, is the best chance they'll get for a Cup in the McDrai window. With both of our stars entering their 30s and getting significant pay rises, along with the rest of the core aging, there's not that many kicks at the can they have left anymore realistically.
This feels more in line with the James Neal, Duncan Keith additions. The organization should be past the point of wishful thinking, believing that they'll get miraculous rebounds for players that have sucked for years, buying lottery tickets in hopes that they make you rich instead of finding proven solutions to problems. Identify a need and fill it with a player that has shown they can fill that need at an adequate level in 2025. Everything else is BS.
I'll be pissed off if this means they won't make a heavy push for a top 4 D at TDL.

It would need to be like when Colorado acquired Lehkonen, Manson, and Kuemper. That is what I see going all in tbh. We need alot more cap than we have now in order to make moves like that.I wish they just actually went all-in. What? Where do you get that it would cost roster guys for a 2nd pairing D? Picks and prospects, and maybe a cap dump in Skinner at the most. No way Kulak or Podz moves.Who is even available as 'all in' and are you good with paying Kulak+Podkolzin+1st for a 2nd pairing RD?
It's also the same surgery Backstrom went through, so it can go either way.Prob posted already but he got the same surgery as Patrick Kane, which saved Patrick Kane's career. So I wouldn't write him off just yet, just cause he had a bad injury.
