a hockey player with the number 24 on his jersey stands next to another player

He really needs to be in a 3rd pair type role at this point in his career. If we can get either one Pionk and Chychrun (LH but plays both sides) should be our big targets this off-season.

Burns is a way more effective defenseman overall than people give him credit for, and he plays admirably well still for being almost-40, but ideally he should move down a pair or two. If the Canes don't think that Morrow is ready next year, IMO they should use Walker next to Slavin and maybe place Burns next to Nikishin for a season to bridge the transition and to mentor our next great young defenseman (hopefully).

Also, I don't understand how our team can put together hard-fought wins against excellent teams and totally sh** the bed against not-good teams. It may actually be because they're constantly looking behind their back because of our goaltending issues. Hopefully Andersen's return fixes this.

Point away from FIFTH PLACE IN THE LEAGUE.
Also have the second best point percentage in the metro with a game in hand on New Jersey. Probably won’t take first in the division but it’s completely feasible that they’ll end up with a home game to start the playoffs… for a year that everybody acknowledged was going to be a step back due to contract stuff and that has seen them have to start 3rd string goalies double digit times already barely halfway through the season, I have a hard time feeling too doom and gloomy

I notice this every time how bad we have been playing gets mentioned. Somehow despite the cliff they have fallen off, they are still one of the best teams in the league.

While that’s fair, we also entered this game with Columbus within shouting distance of 3rd. If we continue our .500 play, we’re going to lose that divisional spot.

Both things can be true?

Even Slavin has admitted the team hasn't been quite right for a bit.

And at the same time even with some adversity were a top team in the metro.

For me personally everyone wants to kiss the ring for Tulsky but I'm not feeling the hype, at least not yet. The Canes have been cutthroat more than in the past and I'm not sure it leaves a pleasant taste in my mouth. Nothing against Roslovic or Walker but at least when Vegas is cutthroat they end up with Eichel, Stone, Hanifin, Fleury types. I'm not a sth but I think everyone can admit the Canes aren't as beloved lately. Winning cures a lot but why can't they be winning and less....frugal? Unbending? Impersonal?

That's also fair, but Columbus is greatly improved Eveson will probably get coach of the year. Not like this is last years Jackets nipping at our heals.

If Columbus is in shouting distance of 3rd then we’re in shouting distance of 1st

Notice that I qualified it as “entering this game.” Before last night, we were 5 points ahead of Columbus and 10 points behind Washington.

Washington is also 6-1-3 in their last 10, Columbus is 8-2-0 and we’re 5-3-2. If that pace keeps up, we’re out, Columbus is in.

Not out because the Atlantic sucks right now it would be awhile before we would be out of WC2
